Hi all.
I'm beginning a new build and found that Riverview had DPMS lowers for $100. Now I know you can find less expensive lowers out there but for a DPMS "Panther" lower, you'll be paying at least $30 more, even online. Why Riverview has them at that price is anyone's guess. I was pretty happy with the purchase. Just a heads up. I've got no affiliations with them but when a bargain appears I just figure you all would like to know. Rome |

DPMS certainly has a name recognition that many of the other manufacturers, including some of the expensive boutique brands, do not share.
what an eloquent way of saying stay away Meh, lowers are lowers for the most part . I'd buy DPMS over a lot of the no-name brands out there that show up at hoffman's and whatnot.
My personal preference in stripped lowers is Stag, quality and local company, and Armalite, who typically have a superior finish. |

what an eloquent way of saying stay away Actually, I was saying the exact opposite. DPMS is a brand that everyone has heard of- they advertise, license their name to some airsoft manufacturers, and have generally been around for a long time. (Same as Olympic (sort-of...more people have heard about their complete rifle reputation), Bushmaster, RRA) If somebody isn't an afficienado, and they see a slapped together rifle with DPMS lower on the rack, they'll say something to the effect of "I know them. They're pretty good." Most people haven't really heard of LMT, Noveske, PSA, BCM.... and the one-offs with no name lowers....no matter how good the parts and overall quality may be....most buyers won't appreciate the gun if they don't know the name on the side. |

Stag's are about on the same level , from what I've seen ( Own 1 Stag now , and had two DPMS ) , but I'd buy another DPMS for $100 , if I needed one .
I really like the RRA for just a bit more $$ , they've got a great looking finish IMO . Pete at Legal Transfers was my go-to dealer for RRA when I lived in NH , I've still got one of his lowers for my hunting/target rifle . I miss dealing with him FTF |

I went shopping up to Cabela's this morning after visiting a customer in E. Hartford. Figure I might as well take advantage of spending the gas. I was looking for a lower parts kit to go into the lower. I was told, however, that they don't carry parts like that in the stores; online only. Well, on the way home I took Rt 5 and drove back to Riverview. Lo and behold they had the DPMS lower kit, complete, for $59. That, too, is 'net priced. Right above it on the wall was some non-descript kit in a baggie all oiled up for $71! It's pretty amazing, actually. That DPMS kit is really nice compared to the run-of-the-mill one becuse the polish the sear so there's zero "grit" feeling after you install it. I've got Geissele trigger in two of my rigs; obviously top of the line. But this DPMS trigger feels really nice, just not as predictable as the more expensive two stage triggers.
Just a recap. Rome |

They told me that when I asked about the brands. Riverview is a curious place because some stuff is very competiviely priced while other things are simply too high to consider. Overall I'd say I'm please that they're there because they do come through in a pinch and it's nice to have someplace to look over the wide variety of items they offer. Holsters, for instance, are well represented as are cleaning supplies and odds and ends. Firearms tend to be more on the pricey side but they do bargain. One of my buddies stopped in there with a SAKO rifle and he was offered a LOT more there than any place else for it. They must have had a buyer all set up. Anyway I've got everything I now need. I did pick up a Tapco buttstock/tube setup, too. My Oracle upper is on its way and will be here on Tuesday. I'll have this built up and ready for optics in a few days.

Yeah , it's a 3 - 4 hour drive from here now . I probably will again once I'm back to work this fall and have some more disposable income . I want two more RRA bare lowers . |

He used to have chrome RRA BCGs for $125 FTF. I went with my buddy one time to grab one, and Pete pulled one out of his personal gun (unused, he just installed it when the shipment came) to sell because all the other ones were gone by the time we got there and he didn't want to make my buddy wait a week or 2 for more to come in. |

Didnt know legal transfers was in NH. Going to use them when I get back into matches. The price quoted on a NM A4 is really good I bought a Lower from them almost 10 years ago - drove up there and picked it up. US Property Marked RRA Lower. It was during the Federal Ban so must have been 2002/2003. |

If they were actually rifles or shotguns, meaning that they have a long barrel (16"+) AND a butt stock on them. Receivers, including receivers with a stock attached are not rifles or shotguns. |

I gotta put up a +1 to Riverview.
I read a ton of bad reviews on here when I first joined up and I was really hesitant to do business there, but in the last 30something transactions I've had there I don't have a single bad thing to say about them. They're always courteous and helpful to me, and they've helped me around a few speed-bumps too. I bought a used PK380 from them for dirt cheap (like $150 I think), took it to the range a full 2 weeks later and had at least 1 mis-hap (fte, ftf) per full magazine. Brought it in to him a few days later and told him my story and he gave me a full trade in towards an M&P. Sure, many of us would expect nothing less from a quality business, but in the end, they really didn't have to. I thought it was a nice gesture, and showed good business etiquette. Not to mention selection. . . I guess what Im tryin to say is, when I walk into a shop it feels nice to walk in with confidence (and excitement). Sometimes when I walk into other shops I feel like Im walking into the set of "Hardcore Pawn", hahaha. Wrong kind of excitement . . . (No affiliation whatsoever) |

IF nothing else they are there and they are a gun shop. My next shop is in Newington and that's not just up the road although not a bad drive.
BTW, I saw a 3 pack of Troy 30 round mags for $43 there. If you haven't handled a composite Troy mag with those reverse fish scales on the surface you owe it to yourself to do so. I've only got one p-mag that I'm testing in my rifles. My intentions were to replace all my metal mags with pmags but now I'm set on the Troy Mags. They are made right in W. Springfield, MA. Did you know that? Rome |

Today is the new "born on date" for my assembled kit. As usual, the thing went together like a swiss watch. It is easy as pie for anyone who has never assembled an Ar-15 before. There are some tedious moments and having roll-pin drifts is nice to have but other than that they just puzzle together. The fit between the DPMS lower and DPMS Oracle upper was pretty tight. Not perfect, to be honest. I can actually find about .010 between them but it's well within a reasonable amount. I can also tell you that the DPMS lower kit's trigger is REALLY nice. It is crisp and clean and not gritty or sticky at all. I'm very pleased with it and will probably keep it after all. There is a big difference between cheap lower kits and the nicer branded kits I've learned. This was my 2nd DPMS lower kit and for $59 they are very much well worth their money.
Monday I'll have all three of the ERB family to the range for some excercise and breaking in of the newbie to the clan. I've pinned the "adjustable" stock after I fitted it to my shoulder properly. One properly drilled and sized hole and a roll pin hammered home. Crap. I wish I could leave it out but them's the rules. Tested the feed from a mag with a handful of snap-caps and feed and ejection seem to be good. I think we'll be good to go! Rome |
. I'd buy DPMS over a lot of the no-name brands out there that show up at hoffman's and whatnot.
