I will have 2 BBL's in transit from PSA very shortly and was looking to have the section under the handguards fluted to help with cooling and a little bit of weight reduction any places in CT that can handle this for me in a timely manner?

Thanks and th rational is that as these 2 rifles are going to be used for teaching family and I will be using 1 for carbine classes while keeping the other with me I am trying to make the weight more centered around the receiver not out past that gas block along with the little bit of extra mass to reduce perceived recoil.  Buffer swaps are always an option but then a small risk is being run of hitting a lot of surplus ammo that could potentially be under gassed

take them to the range with 300 rounds of wolf/brownbear/silver bear/ tula/herters type steel cased garbage. Keep the action well lubricated

That will be your test to see if they like steel-cased cheap ammo or not.  Heat will have little to do with it.  My rifles have always loved the cheap stuff.

As far as balance is concerned, counterweight the rear.  What stock are you using?  does it have space for batteries or cleaning kits etc?

For fluting, sending them off to ADCO is probably your best bet if you really do decide that is for you.

How about improving your muscle mass? Its a 6.5 lb rifle, my man. Seriousness, if your worried about balance and weight you need to do some pushups and lift some weights.

Honestly, i had some issue 2 yrs ago when i started shooting seriously again. I got some 10 lb dumbbells, started a regular regimen of pushups, curls, military presses and bent over rowing, and any other work i could think of with the weights. . I lost 14 lbs, and can handle my rifle like a toothpick now. Plus I can go 3-4 hours, fire 300-500 rounds and still be accurate and efficient. I'm 53.

I just went thru 350 rounds of WPA and 150 rnds of AE 223 brass, in that order, no issues, and all I did was wet my action with CLP once before shooting. OH and 100 rnds of 9mm, and 30 rnds of 45. MP9, and a Glock 21( HOW about that Dan?), no issues no fatigue, and i was shooting pretty tight, including a few combat reloads.

Its not a toy train like its a sport. Save your money on the barrel work, buy ammo and range time. And some weights or a gym membership. You'll be better off for it, i assure you. And your ol lady will dig your new 6 pack...LOL. She calls me Spartacus the Warrior now! Git er dun....

The recoil is not my concern for me more for my wife and anyone else I am working with that is unfamiliar with rifles

if your worried about recoil, reducing weight is only gojng to make the recoil worse.

heavy barrel and a suppressor will get rid of whatever recoil there is on a 556 rifle

I would think if Jojo's doesn't do it and they are the only shop I can think of if not one of the few shops around CT that does in house work like this. May just want to call ADCO and see what turnaround would be.
