| If someone moves to mass is there anyway to easily keep pistols and ar15s? |
|
Or get a Mass LTC. As an incoming resident, Mass law allows to temporarily retain your firearms (for 60 days, IIRC) while you apply for Mass Licensure. Unless you are moving to Boston (which has its own muni AW laws and typically only issues B-LTCs) you should be able to get at least a target/ hunting restricted A-LTC. Even if you end up with a B LTC, you would be good to keep the ARs and non-hi cap pistols.More towns than you would think issue A-LTCs without restriction/ for all lawful purposes... so CC isn't necessarily out of the picture either.
You will even find that there are some guns that are Mass legal that aren't CT legal- Colt AR-15 prebans and 7.62x39 AKs, for example If you want (or think you might want) any pistols that aren't authorized for dealer sale up there, just remember to buy them before the move and bring them with you. Just make sure you don't bring any post-ban hicap magazines with you. |
| You could rent a storage locker in southern New Hampshire and store them there. On the other hand you could just move to New Hampshire join GONH (Gun Owners of New Hampshire) and fight to keep your gun rights. If you have to move to Mass make sure you join GOAL (Gun Owners Action League) and work to repeal those "feel good" gun laws. |

JAD is mostly correct. Here are the corrections: - Boston almost always issues LTC-A, but restricted to no CCW unless you fit certain specific criteria. - Boston has an all-encompassing TOTAL BAN on any AR-15s, many other named long guns, and ALL hi-cap mags for rifles. This law is Boston-specific and goes back to 1989. [They issued a special AW permit ONE TIME ONLY to those that registered them back in 1989. Anyone moving in after that date is SOL.] No handguns are banned in MA unless they are "AWs" (think AR-15/AK-47 pistols here). All ARs and other so-called "AWs" must either be pre-ban or in neutered configuration. All hi-cap mags for any gun must be pre-ban only. Felony to possess them otherwise. When you move in, move all your guns with you. That EXEMPTS you from registering every gun with the state. Then apply for your LTC. You have 60 days to obtain it (and it takes about that long) and you can keep your guns securely unloaded and locked up in your home legally. You definitely should re-think any idea of moving into MA. If avoidable I'd chose NH in a heartbeat. NO gun BS up there, live free.
