| Anyone know whats the VT hunting laws on private land? Recently acquired land with a pond, but closed to 89 i heard that you must be at less 50 yards from any road. Do i need to following hunting/fishing season laws? |

Go to the F&W website. As far as discharge of a firearm it is now 10' from the traveled portion of the roadway. Any specific questions let me know. The Game Wardens are a great resource for you and they freely post their home phone numbers on the website. I am not sure about e-mails being there, but if you need one, let me know.
Good Luck, Mike |

Do i need to following hunting/fishing season laws? Yes, you do need to follow VT's fish and game laws on your own property. There are exceptions for wildlife that is causing property damage, detroying crops, ect. The fish cops up here will happily answer any questions you have. Do not mess about with fish and game laws up here, the state doesn't have much of a sense of humor about those. Here's a link to get you started. http://www.eregulations.com/vermont/ |

Just read thru the F&G book. Its pretty short and straight forward. If, after that you have a question give a shout to the local warden. Most of them are pretty good guys and are more than happy to clear up questions before they become a problem.
It used to read "off the traveled portion of the road" but I believe its now "over ten feet off the traveled portion of the road". Enjoy! |
