I hope everybody caught up ok after Irene. It looks as though we may get hit again. Im linking a decent hurricane tracker in here so everybody can think "out loud" as we keep watch on the next one.

I'd buy a generator but I don't think the apartment complex would like that....I'm not even on the first floor.  Also, someone bought ALL of the .45 ACP at ALL of my local Walmarts....

current track has katia heading out to sea WAY to our east.   and if it did make landfall in CT, it would be next weekend around the 10th.

ALL of the models have been very consistent with almost no deviation that the storm will just blow out to sea and die a lonley sea death.

...but it is going to build a lot of energy and would be quite devastating if it does hit us.

Me neither (Montville).  I've heard anywhere from Saturday evening to next Wednesday.

According to the restoration time table, looks like late Sunday for Montville.

I'm mostly worried about how much of the fringe we see. It wouldn't take much wind and rain to cause a lot of delays in the recovery work and you'll see that way outside the actual Hurricane/TS area.

I think the main problem is serious line damage on 161 up near the golf course.  A guy I know who works for CL&P is trying to get me good info.

A factoid about the models and the cone:  The cone is by design no more than 66% accurate.  The cone width is fixed at 2/3 the average error of the previous seasons predictions.  It gets smaller over the years, but there's a 1 in 3 chance that the hurricane leaves the cone.

Don't let your guard down just because the cone isn't indicating landfall.  Storm effects are felt far from the storm itself as well of course.
