| I'm moving from Vernon to Manchester in June and wondering what I need to do for my NFA tax stamp, and if I need to do anything for my other long gun in terms of the local PD... |
|
Quoted:
if you already have an approved form 1 or 4 with stamp, all you need to do is send 2 form 5320.20's to the ATF... As far as CT goes, you need to go to dps and get your pistol permit updated, other than that, you're all set. All you have to do is call DPS and write your new address on the back of you permit. |

NFA Branch will likely approve the 5320.20 if sent, so there's no harm in doing so, but I don't think they update your Form 1 or Form 4 record with a post-it note that says "Oh yeah, he moved." By definition, the 5320.20 is for interstate transport. |

You would also check No for Box 2 since its not coming back to the original address. You do not need a 5320 for silencers even when moving out of state There are no regulations stating that you must contact the ATF for in state moves. However they do like to keep the registry as accurate as possible and sending them a letter or email for an instate address change is not a bad idea. |

What is your stamp for? If it is for a machinegun then you do have to contact CT DPS as they maintain the machinegun registry- if it is anything else you do not have to tell them anything.
You do NOT need to contact ATF for an in state move. The .20 is only required when traveling out of the items registered state or if you are permenantly moving. However, as others have said the ATF likes to be notified of a change of address (mind you this is the same ATF that routinely loses their copies of NFA paperwork....) So the short version is you have to do nothing so long as it is not a machinegun. |

Quoted: Hey Dan, make sure you send in your forms before you move. Since you still get mail at Ba*** **** it wouldn't be a bad idea to keep that as your permanent address, too, for your future NFA purchases. Yup. Going to call MPD this afternoon to see about appt with Chief. After your story of dealing with the Troop not being enough for the NFA examiners, I'll also get my form 4 in right before moving too. |

I'm gonna do the .20 just for their record keeping... if they want it or not, they can deal with the paper. |
