Looking for a current statue in reguards to transporting NFA weapons in our state. From leaving my house to go to a shooting range in state, how are my machine guns and ammo to be stowed? Not interested in rifles, shotguns, pistols or revolvers, just straight info on MG's.
Thanks |

Assuming your toys are properly papered, both on the state and federal level, then they could fall into one of two categories: MGs that are also assault weapons and MGs that aren't.
Sounds stupid, but there are two different sections of the law that can control one device. If your MG is select-fire, then it is also an assault weapon. With a very few exceptions, this means you had it back in 1994 when the AWB was passed and you got your Certificate of Posession for it. If it isn't select-fire, then it isn't an assault weapon. Assault weapons can only be legally posessed in certain locations, such as ranges. Carrying them to and from, they must be unloaded and in the trunk, or in a case that is inaccessible to the driver or passengers of the vehicle. Regular MGs should be unloaded, but so far I haven't found any specific requirements otherwise. For full info, go to http://www.jud.ct.gov/lawlib/Law/firearms.htm for all the statutes. |

From a Federal level there is nothing. You can always transport a properly papered NFA within the state it is papered in.
From a state level there are no special restrictions- treat it like a rifle (i.e. cased, unloaded, etc). As to how it falls within our AWB that is another story. |
