| Is anyone from or near Berlin, NH? What can you tell me about the area? I'm thinking about transfering to that area to better my career options and would like to know alittle about it from someone that actually lives there. |

Ahhh, so work is good to go. Its a great area for play as long as you have a stable job. Good fishing and hunting and land is as cheap as you can find it in the state. Buisness is good yes, I don't see us turning the lights out and shutting the doors anytime soon. |

Guess it depends on what you like to do... if you are used to malls and large entertainment centers you will be disappointed. If you like seeing moose in your yard, canoeing, fishing, hunting, 4 wheeling and/or/ snowmobiling, good gun laws, then you will think you are in heaven. You will find decent places to shop for food... the UPS guy will probably get to know you..... I dont get to Berlin all that often... but I get north of there a lot for fishing and hunting. I love it up there, if I could make the money I do now and they had a good youth hockey program I would move. I will consider it for retirement. |
| Berlin is one of those failed mill towns that are common in the Northeast. I could ask my wife but I would guess most of the students in their public schools recieve free or reduced lunch. Also mullets are still in stle and if you are looking for an 82 trans am with leapord interier you are headed to the right place. Lots of french influence in the area as well. |

Ever since they closed the paper mill and everything stopped smelling like ass Berlin just lost all it's charm. Seriously, when the sports teams from Berlin would come play in my town I swear to god you could smell it on them.
Berlin with out the smell just isn't Berlin. |

I'm about 45 minutes from Berlin.pronounced Brln by the locals.......lol.................They just closed the Shaw's Super Market in Berlin because of the competition form Super Wal-Mart..My Wife works in the Shaw's at Littleton///people are driving from Berlin to Littleton for a job at Shaw's!!
French influence...that's an understatement!!......................all together now, push on d rope!! aye!!........very very french!!! Living in Gorham would be better, but you can get a house very cheap in Berlin. In the Winter it is colder than a witches tit in a brass bra!!!...lots of Global Warming in winter!!!!....not...................very very cold you'll see 30-40 below pretty regular in Jan and Feb. Since the Mills are pretty much closed and the economy is not the greatest.I think the best thing that could be said is that the town is stagnant! The prison is a good thing for the town, but it is not a cure all...............lots of competition for the jobs........so unless you have it locked, I would not move until you do. |

Nice discription... I'm already with the federal prison system for 8 yrs now, so I'm not worried about that its an easy transfer. My wife and I both enjoy outdoor activities so thats a big plus for moving to the area. The worries are for my kids, I don't want to move them to a poor school system. There both still young and not in school yet so thats why I'm thinking about making the move now. |

I can't add a lot more to the very accurate descriptions you've already gotten. If you want a better school, definitely look south of Berlin (bur-lin - emphasis on the first sylable). It is gorgeous country though. I shot a moose up near there in a town called "Success" in 2000. |
