Hey guys. Do any of you have text of the SBR laws? My Form 1 was sent to ATF in August and I wrote 14.5 for my barrel length since most people were saying the "multi" lengths were getting sent back.

In addition to the 14.5 I would like to have one of my other uppers cut somewhere around 10-12in. Am I correct that the law states that I can have as many short uppers as I want for my lower as long as the changes are not "permanent"?

I am looking for this info to have handy, just so if I am out shooting a 11in barrel and someone asks to see my paperwork and they see it's registered as a 14.5, I can justify the legality.

Once the Form 1 goes through, can I try amending it for both barrel lengths?

Thanks for the help.

Yes that is correct as long as it isnt a PERMANENT change..  Do a google search for ATF and Class III firearms..
You should be able to find it pretty easy..

From what I have seen, as long as I can return the gun to its registered configuration, I am good to go. I just wasn't sure how strictly this was enforced. I think it is strange they kick back the forms labeled for multiple calibers or lengths, yet the law clearly states that you can own multiple lengths and calibers so long as you retain the original.

Would the only possible way for it to be a "permanent" change be if I sold or was no longer in possession of the upper?
