The fair is next weekend, I've never gone before, and we are thinking of going.  Just wondering if the is a no guns sign posted there or not.

Thanks,

I don't recall seeing signs, but if alcohol is served there, it could be a legal issue if the gooberment views the entire fair as a single establishment.

I did not think that CT had a law against carrying where alcohol was served, just no carrying while drinking, at all.  Not under the limit, any alcohol and carrying and its against the law.

Am I wrong?
I cant find it, somebody point me to the laws concerning this!

ok, this is what I found

Sec. 53-206d. Carrying a firearm while under the influence of intoxicating liquor or drug prohibited. Hunting while under the influence of intoxicating liquor or drug or while impaired by the consumption of intoxicating liquor prohibited. (a)(1) No person shall carry a pistol, revolver, machine gun, shotgun, rifle or other firearm, which is loaded and from which a shot may be discharged, upon his person (A) while under the influence of intoxicating liquor or any drug, or both, or (B) while the ratio of alcohol in the blood of such person is ten-hundredths of one per cent or more of alcohol, by weight.

     (2) Any person who violates any provision of this subsection shall be guilty of a class B misdemeanor.

     (b) (1) No person shall engage in hunting while under the influence of intoxicating liquor or any drug, or both, or while impaired by the consumption of intoxicating liquor. A person shall be deemed under the influence when at the time of the alleged offense the person (A) is under the influence of intoxicating liquor or any drug, or both, or (B) has an elevated blood alcohol content. For the purposes of this subdivision, "elevated blood alcohol content" means (i) a ratio of alcohol in the blood of such person that is ten-hundredths of one per cent or more of alcohol, by weight, or (ii) if such person has been convicted of a violation of this subsection, a ratio of alcohol in the blood of such person that is seven-hundredths of one per cent or more of alcohol, by weight. A person shall be deemed impaired when at the time of the alleged offense the ratio of alcohol in the blood of such person was more than seven-hundredths of one per cent of alcohol, by weight, but less than ten-hundredths of one per cent of alcohol, by weight.

     (2) Any person who violates any provision of this subsection shall be guilty of a class A misdemeanor.

     (3) Enforcement officers of the Department of Environmental Protection are empowered to arrest for a violation of the provisions of this subsection.

To answer the original question, you are not in violation of any law if you do carry where there is a sign posted on private property- you can only be asked to leave if they discover it, but concealed is concealed...

I do not know if the Durham fair has a sign, but I have never seen one at any fair.

Sign at each entrance to the Big E

"No firearms - permit or no permit"

Also be advised that the law recently changed  .... .08 is the new limit

might start in OCT but I remember it being passed when the stupid ammo serialization bills were being presented

thats simple-
if you chose to carry, choose not to have anything to drink!
its just common sense...

had to read up a few posts to understand what you were saying, but good to know that about the big E regardless.  although I dont think of the big E as a fair, too big and commercial, and certainly much bigger and more organized than the durham fair

Please see my other post about my feelings on the Big E.

I will hopefully be working at the Berlin Fair this year with my rifle and pistol club as well as my PD.  I worked OT there last year and had a blast.

.08 has been the limit in CT for several years, unless you are referring to specifically firearms.

No alcohol served at the Durham Fair.
In the past every ticket booth and all the tickets said "no weapons"
I just looked on my Three Day Pass that I got because of past work for the fair and there was no such wording on it this year. I don't know about the regular tickets .
In past years the State Police at the gates would grab and hold any stuff that they could pick out but with the size of the crowds I would expect one would have to be pretty sloppy about carry to get caught.
