I voted in today's Republican primary for Mike Huckabee, knowing full well I will most likely end up voting for McCain in the November election.

There is just too much about John McCain that I cannot support - unless I have no choice but to vote for him as a Hillary or Obama "block" move.

Look at Huckabee's website on the issues for Second Amendment.

Mike Huckabee is the ONLY candidate running with the GONADS to state in writing, for all to see, that the Second Amendment is about individuals owning guns to protect themselves not only from common criminals, but also from a tyrranical government if the need ever arises.

All the other candidates are meely-mouthed about the Second Amendment and Romney is downright antigun and the only Republican stating he is FOR MORE BANS!!!

How the hell Romney can claim being the "champion" of "true conservatives" is beyond me.

IMO - Romney is full of it

I'm a McCain guy myself.  Gun rights is a big issue for me, but it's not my only issue.  Huckabee is unelectable and Romney irks me for a number of reasons, among them his almost anti-gun stance... so, McCain it is!

I don't think that Hillary or Obama have a real chance of winning in the general election, especially if McCain is on the ticket.  With things in Iraq going well, his moderate stance will serve well.

Oh, I agree McCain is electable. However, truth be known he is not really our "friend"

He knows he needs us to get elected. But here are some facts about John McCain:

1. McCain-Feingold Act (1996) - basically shut off the NRA from endorsing a candidate for president 60-days prior to an election (Ask the labor unions and teacher's organizations if they are restricted from endorsing a candidate 60-days prior to an election?)

2. votes against ratifying conservative judge nominations

3. Stated he would run WITH John Kerry in 2004

4. Endorsed by Sen. Lieberman who voted antigun 33 out of 34 times during his 20 years in the US Senate

5. Against any real form of border protection (he would leave it to individual states)

About the only thing John McCain has ever voted against that helped us was the AW ban, and he did that only to avoid total alienation of gun owner votes.

Given his record, what would he do when the UN Global Gun Ban Treaty comes to his desk for signature?

Again, I'm not saying I wouldn't vote for him if he becomes nominated which is most likely. I am saying that Mike Huckabee deserves a nod for having the balls to post what the Second Amendment really means.

I voted for Huckabee. He could be better a little  more conservative on the social issues, but he's light years ahead of McCain and Romney.

I have a huge problem with Mccain so I was glued to the TV until 1AM pulling my hair out as the numbers tallied up.  Mccain has undermined the republican party for far too long now.  I voted for Romney, because I think he is the best choice left out of the 3 to run this country.  I agree his record on firearms is less than stellar (understatement).  But I truly believe that any of the republican candidates will not impose any further anti-gun legislation.  I like Huckabee for his 2nd ammendment stance, also for the fair tax but the heavy religious beliefs bother me.  I'm not anti-religion per se, but I feel we need someone who is more about whats best for the country then what God supposedly wants for the country.  Romney's expirience in management comes from both governing a state, to running successful businesses, to managing the olympic games.  I firmly believe that Governers and Mayors are far more qualified to be President then Reps and Senators, who don't manage anything.

As a Republican I will vote for whoever the party nominates, even Mccain, I'm sorry to say, because any of them are infinatly better then Clinton or Obama (or God forbid a Clinton/Obama ticket).  Both of the dems have made very clear they will impose new gun laws.  Obama wants to ban ALL SEMI-AUTOMATIC weapons as well as take away carry rights and limit gun purchases to 1 per month.  That is fucking sick and un-American.  But that is the only way to impose a socialist environment on a population.

I voted for Huckabee also.
I will hold my nose, and fight the gag reflex when the time comes to vote for McCain in November.

In addition to the crap he's pulled, as listed in Steve's post, he co-authored legislation with Lieberman, to shut down gunshows

Interesting note about "Barack - I-won't put my hand over my heart during the National Anthem - Obama":

Sean Hannity last night on 960am WELI played a bit from interviewing Obama supporters: "Tell me ONE thing that Obama has accomplished in the Senate that qualifies him to run for President. Just one thing"

....... Nothing!

Not one of the brainwashed, smiling, hands swaying in the air, for Obama sheeple  - could verbalize ONE single solitary qualitative thing that Obama has done while in the Senate except be a "voice for change"....

The only thing scarier than the choices on the ballot are about 55% of the people in this country who are actually registered to vote!

I don't understand what the change is.......and I doubt any of his supporters do either.  Ask one of them what qualifies Obama and they will tell you he is for change.  Ask them what does that mean.  They will tell you no more of the same.  Ask them what that means.  I don't think they really know what that means.  He is a very good public speaker.  Lsiten to him and he is very convincing and he mesmorizes the masses.  Then actually listen to his words and you'll realize he is not saying anything of substance at all, it's amazing.  This is a very scary election indeed.

Frankly, the only change I see is the color of the nominee.  he
Honestly, I thought Hillary was bad, but Obama is a true enemy of our freedoms and his anti-American nature is downright frightening.  I can understand how people aren't that happy with the GOP candidates, but I hope that the masses really do recognize it.  If either Hillary or Obama get in, it ain't gonna be good times.

I've posed the same question to Obama supporters that I know and it's scary that so many people are supporting Obama based on this mysterious "change" platform.  I tried to point out that regardless of who is elected, it'll be "change" right?  They don't get it.

It will be good times for those who vote for them knowing the platforms they stand on.  For slackers and underachievers and illegal immigrants alike, voting for democrats protects them and hurts the hard working.  Democrats are the perfect choice for those who can't do for themselves.  For those who place all their blames on the "rich" and think they are intitled to the same priveilages for working their asses off to get that job at starbucks.  I am self employed and have to pay out of pocket for healthcare (shitty major med, that has a huge deductible and covers only severe issues I may add) and I am still opposed to socialized healthcare.  I agree our heathcare in this country could be better but big government is not the answer.

I agree wholeheartedly.  People who support their agenda either (a) haven't visited places like New Haven to know better OR (b) are the type of people who "live" in New Haven and think there's nothing wrong with it.

I'm very disappointed Ron Paul is so far behind. I'm going to get forced in to voting for McCain. Any of the Republican  candidates is better than Hillary or Barack, and I've always considered myself a Democrat.

Unfortunately, Ron Paul was never a serious contender.  He's basically the polar opposite of Dennis Kucinich and both of them are unelectable.

By the way, anybody see Dennis Kucinich's wife?  She's 30 years younger than him, a tall redhead.  Oh my.  Of course, there's obviously something wrong with her since she's attracted to a short, bowtie-wearing liberal that looks like a small woman.

It's easy to tell them apart.  They come from completely different sides of mars.
Kucinich = short + nerdy looking
Paul = short + crazy looking
