Are there any public ranges in Vermont that stretch out past 500 yards?

My local range is 300 yards which is nice, but it's not much of a challenge anymore and I need to go further I love long range shooting and want to get more into it very badly.

Nope, none that I know of.  If you know any farmers perhaps talk with them.  If they have some fields you might be able to work something out with them.  That's what I do.  Good luck!-

Jus228,

Sign up for the summer Appleseed in VT.
We get to use the National Guard KD range.
You'll get a crack out to 600 yards if you shoot well the first day of the seminar.
Check out appleseedinfo.org.
Maybe Brushhog can make this one. (Chuckle)

That's what I've been doing but can only do it certain times.. can't in the winter because a snowmobile trail goes through this location.. Can in the early spring but the grass really takes off by mid May and then have to wait for the field to be harvested..

I have read a bit about that Appleseed event last fall and it really did sound interesting I'll have to look into it more and maybe I'll have the time to attend!

Bwahahaha!  I'm planning to attend one day in Proctor and definitely will be attending one or both days at Ethan Allen.  My .308 is turning into a long range project

Proctor is a good one to make both days. Lots of shooting, since we're limited to 25 meters. You can use a .22 for the whole weekend, so you're ammo cost is about $11, if you get a 550 round brick of Federal from Wal-mart.

Of course, Jericho is definitely a 2 day trip.

Free camping at both of them.

Oh, inside info, Jericho will be 19/20 July. We go back to Proctor again in late Sep.

We shoot long range in a farmers field up near my buddies in Sharon.

If you miss the Appleseed in July you will be sorry. EAFR is amazing.

I'm hoping to make it up again.

EAFR is very nice.  i love being in the VT guard and get to use the range whenever i want if its not already being used.  It also helps to get "in" with range control.  there is also a nice 300 yeard range there next to the pop-up pistol course.
