[ARCHIVED THREAD] - CT Members check in (Page 1 of 4)

| Just curious who is here from CT. If you'd like, your town or city as well. It's not a trap, I am just curious and always looking for new shooting buddies, I've met some great ones on this site. I am from Bridgeport. |
I shoot mostly on private property but I belong to Pachauge outdoor club and Ledyard Sportsmans Club.. |
| Seems like there are enough of us, and I know of a half dozen other CT members who haven't yet checked in, maybe we should get some kind of shoot going? Any interest? I know we have quite a few Class III toys in this state, think we could find a C3 friendly range that can accomodate a few folks? There is one guy in CT, not a member here I don't believe who has a minigun, a DD M1A1 75mm Pack Howitzer, DD 60mm Mortar, and more machine guns than I've ever seen in my life. That man had an amazing collection. |
Bridgeport does c3 indoor. |
I'd be down for that......when it gets warmer. I am waiting on form 1 and 4 for my SBR and suppressor on my PWA preban w/ ceiner .22 conversion. I'll be able to shoot all day with out breaking the bank with this thing. |
The shop I was at the other day in Seymour has a MAC-10. If anyone has $3500 they're not using, I'd be down. |
| I'm up for a get together. I don't know about the class 3 friendly range open to the public besides bridgepit and the new one in Torrington. I'd rather wait till it's nice outside and shoot outdoors anyway. I'd suggest either High Rock range or Blue Trails range. Looks like 75% of the people in this thread so far are like 15-20 min from HRR. |
If a bunch of guys showed up at Blue Trail w/AR's they would blow a gasket as soon as they saw them or heard them. No rapid fire allowed there. It doesn't matter though, Im in process of selling off most of my guns & the ones I didn't sell were lost in my boating accident while ice fishing! |
Not too long ago. Prices may be going crazy, but for $500k you can get a really nice brand new house in oxford, in Shelton that gets you a dump with no property. |
I don't have a problem with the no rapid fire rule. I've been there a few times with a couple buddies all with AR's (heck I usually bring 3 myself), I've never been asked when I check in what type of rifle am I shooting. |
| Grew up in Branford, moved to Georgia for a few years (where I got into shooting), and then came back to CT (Middletown area) to finish college. I miss GA where it was free to shoot, up here I have difficulty finding one range where I can shoot all my guns hassle free. I would be down for a CT shoot if it was C3 friendly. I know a guy in CT who has a Quad 50 he rents out along with a wide variety of other MGs. I'm sure with enough interest he might be willing to make an appearence. |

Homeowners. I'm a cabinetmaker (15 years)and build and design custom furniture pieces as well as a handful of custom kitchens during a year. In Hebron, the homeowners asked me to build some cabs to match what they had when they extended their kitchen space. I also did a custom kitchen for a log cabin in Salem. It's on a 30 acre plot in the woods. Turkeys, deer, and a good assortment of varments were always present. Rome |
Why no problem with the rule? Unless there is some overriding safety concern (at which point, why is the range still open?) there shouldn't be a problem with rapid-fire, right? OP: I'm in Westbrook, and looking for a club somewhere between here and New Haven where I can join for 15 months (at which point I go overseas again) and can shoot rapidly. |
| Most ranges have a 6 rounds per 10 seconds rule, one of the ones I went to was 1 round every three seconds. The reasoning was for the noise. Makes no sense because if 10 people are firing it gives the same noise effect of rapid fire anyways. Sometimes people just impose rules for the sake of rules. |
