Does a tax stamp need to be obtained before the supressor is in your possesion? Or can you get the supressor and register it at a later date as long as it's not being used. Thanks.

Thankyou. Is there a website with all of this or are you just sorting it out through the CGS?

skeeters65 is correct. I received the approved ATF Form 4 (with $200 tax stamp affixed thereto) before I was able to take delivery of my sound suppressor.  FYI, the West Hartford Police were very pleasant to work with getting the CLEO signature.

I'm going through the paperwork process to get a second sound suppressor.

You can order the suppressor thru a Class 3 dealer.  They will take possession of it, and then transfer to you once you have the tax stamp.  I paid a deposit on mine, along with a threaded BarSto barrel, and will finish off the payment this week.  The Dealer will order the can, and we will fill out the paperwork and submit it.  Dealer gets the can, I wait till I get my stamp, then I can go pick up the can.  Some cans take a few weeks to a few months to arrive.  Then I start the money gathering process for can #2!  I'm going with a AWC Titanium Abraxas for my glock 19, and then something to suppress my Ruger Mk2, maybe a Quest.
