I have been going to the DEP range in Glastonbury for the last couple months. It's only open Saturday and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., but it's free. dep.state.ct.us/whatshap/press/2006/032806b.htm |

It also took me a while to find it to on Google. For some reason Google cannot locate Toll Gate Rd. It's near where Rt. 2 and Rt. 83 meet. The staff from the DEP are friendly and very helpful. The only thing I don't like is that they are only open on the weekends. |
From Rt 2 If you are going towards Hartford, get off at exit 11. Take a right at the end of the ramp onto Toll Gate Road and the entrance to the range is about 200 feet away. If you are coming from Hartford, get off at exit 10. Take a right at the end of the ramp. At the stop sign, take a left onto New London Tpke. Bear to the right onto Wassuc Rd. Wassuc Rd. will cross over Rt. 2. Wassuc Rd. will merge into Toll Gate Road (bear to the right). Follow Toll Gate Road and the entrance to the range is about half a mile away. It's not too hard to find. Print out the map from google and shouldn't have any problem. If you are going to go, it's best to call for reservations, though they will take walk-ins if there is room. |
