A woman was shot last night in New Haven and killed. It is being reported as an unintentional shooting.

The gunman is charged with manslaughter. He had a .357 revolver. NHPD Chielf Francisco Ortiz says
there was gunplay and the weapon discharged several times killing the woman in the car .

My question: HOW THE HELL IS IT POSSIBLE TO ACCIDENTALLY DISCHARGE A REVOLVER
SEVERAL TIMES BY ACCIDENT?? What the F@#$ is Chief Ortiz talking about? Is the chief sniffing glue, or covering something up??

New Haven-WTNH, Apr. 27, 2006 Updated 6:18 PM) _ Gunplay turned deadly in the streets of New Haven Wednesday night. A young woman died when she was shot in the chest. Police have arrested a friend of the victim for her death.

Kendraya Glasper's family, too upset to talk on camera, wanted us to know this picture is how they will remember her. Always with a smile on her face.

The 21-year-old was killed Wednesday night in front of her friend's mother's house on Gilbert Avenue.

That friend is Vincent Corneilus. The 22-year-old charged with her death. Corneilus' mother, Veronica Crowder, was at home when the gun went off.

"I heard pow, pow, and I just froze it scared me."

Crowder then called 911. She says her son was beside himself.

"He just put his hands up to his face and he said 'Ma, I didn't mean to do it. That was my friend.' He said he was so sorry. He said just tell her family that he was sorry and he didn't mean to do it and it was an accident."

"I was just in shock 'cause this was not something he would do," says Shyrelle Johnson, Corneilus' friend. "I believe it was a mistake. And they're both nice people. They're both good people."

New Haven police say Corneilus told detectives it was an accident. But they didn't say why he had the unconcealed .357 revolver in the first place.

"He came outside was talking to the victim and he had a gun in his possession, and that weapon went off several times and struck and killed this unfortunate woman," Chief Francisco Ortiz said.

"We believe at this point in time there is no intent to shoot her and kill her, but clearly he showed an indifference to human life by having a weapon, having it irresponsibly," Chief Ortiz said.

Corneilus will be charged with manslaughter. He has a four month old son his mom says depends on him.

And for friends and family who depended on Kendraya Glasper she will be truly missed. Kendraya's mother called her daughter a loving sweet child.

Police are waiting for a warrant to search for more evidence inside the suspect's house. The maximum sentence for manslaughter with a firearm is 45 years.

I dont know how u can accidentally pull the trigger repeatedly, but that is a f-ed up story, and its yet another story to ruin the credibility of responsible firearm owners

I dont know the person/age/other info, but maybe he valued his life and had a gun to protect while living in New Haven?

More to the point, is the weapon legal?  Is he licensed?  I'll bet no on both counts.  And, as clearly pointed out, it's impossible for a revolver to "go off" accidentally.  You have to be pulling the trigger.  So, it's pretty clear what "didn't" happen here.  That revolver did NOT go off by itself.

The suspect was reported as a person "known to police" That means, he either has a record and/or is somone who police know is associated with other known criminals. Apparently there is no permit
because, again as reported, the police stated "why" was he armed and in possession of a weapon and possessed it "Irresponsibly" (Chief Ortiz's words, not mine). That means there was no permit.

OK the next obvious thing as I pointed out and Rome mentioned above is how the hell can you "accidentally" discharge a revolver "several" times by accident??

I can see if the asshole was walking around with the revolver cocked in SA mode and have the thing go off in his pants and blow his own balls off - but anyone with an IQ above 80 (and I guess the IQ of NHPD is below 80) could easily conclude that for the victim to have been shot in the chest while sitting in her car - the revolver MUST have been pointed at her and one of the "several" shots fired killed her.

NHPD is either dummer than dirt OR what I suspect, is covering up something involving this case. Maybe it's just as simple as the PD not wanting to report another homicide in the city?

Either way the whole thing is toal bullshit and causes me to reduce my already low opinion of the antigun Chief in New Haven who is NOT DOING HIS JOB when it  comes to arresting real murderers

I think they are covering it up too. New Haven has big problems.
