What exactly should I be asking for when i walk into NGX (which is where i usually go, unless there is a better place to ask this) and want to buy a preban Bushmaster 16" with collapsable stock? is there a certain model# or something that which i could ask for? or just tell them i want a preban Bushmaster 16" carbine with collapsable stock. Do you know if there are any good places to look for this? I check the Equipment Exchange here and never see any prebans i can buy here in CT. And wouldnt know how i could actually find proof that it was a preban so i wouldnt be buying a rifle that would be illegal, when i thought it was legal. Just looking for some advice, im getting myself ready to hunt one down and buy it. thanks for any help in making this process a little easier/shorter |

redrum - I just recently did a transfer of an out-of-state preban via NGX. I found the rifle and paid the seller. I called NGX and asked if they would do a transfer of a pre-ban AR-style rifle. They took the address of the seller to mail a copy of their FFL to them. I waited until the rifle arrived, went to NGX, filled out the 4473 and CT paperwork, paid the transfer fee and walked out with my new-to-me pre-ban. Piece of cake. Hope it helps. |

Should I ask or get anything as proof that i sent the money to the seller? or are the people on the equipment exchange honorable. I just dont wanna get burned on any amount, and just want to be aware of how things happen is all. Thanks for the info, its a huge help |
Racer has it down right. Here's the breakdown. Step 1: Find rifle, pay for rifle. I suggest Paypal, even though they say you're not supposed to pay for Firearms with it. Someone who can take a Credit Card is good too. Money Order is last resort. Keep an eye on post counts and/or member status when you're buying things in the EE. Also check the feedback forum. I usually call and talk to the person when I'm buying something as expensive as a rifle. Step 2: Go to (or call) NGX, tell them you want to have a long gun transfered in, and you need them to send out a signed FFL to the seller for the transfer. They're going to tell you the seller has to put a copy of their driver's license in the box with the gun. Step 3: Wait for seller to recieve FFL. He'll send out the rifle when he gets it. Make sure he's sending it a trackable method and have him send you the tracking number. Make sure he puts a copy of his driver's license in with the gun. Step 4: When you see it show up at NGX via the tracking, go to NGX and fill out all the paperwork to pick it up. You'll pay like I think $20 to them for the transfer and you're done. Nobody collects sales tax on an out of state rifle purchase. NGX isn't going to know or care how much you paid for it. They're doing the transfer only, and have nothing to do with the actual SALE of the rifle. |
