| Anyone know where I can get one in the city? I've been interested in learning it but not sure I wanna order online. |
|
If you watch the lock picking videos it makes it look a lot easier than it is. I got a set out of curiosity about a year or so back, as well as a book, I haven't successfully picked one yet, I feel I have gotten close, most locks have 5-6 pins, I've been able to get up to about 3 but that's not enough, I'm going to have to find more to practice on. I ordered online, had them in a few days, but I don't recall who I ordered from.
This is the guy I was watching on YouTube, he makes it look easy, it ain't! Ya gots to have da touch! BosnianBill |

BosnianBill My last company i worked for we auctioned repo'd RV's and power sports items online. We almost never got the keys for them and most times other RV keys would work, but the higher end units they didnt so we would have to fork over 75 bucks to a lock smith. So we bought a lock pick set. Out of 6 employees, only 1 guy was able to figure it out. He took to it like a frog to water. He tried showing me how to feel and do it, but nope, couldnt do it. One of those things some can do and some cannot. |

You might try the Spy Gear store south side of I-240 between Penn & May. I've seen some at gun shows too. Lock picking is not that difficult once you know how the locks work and get some practice. Ya I went to spy gear on the south side and got a set. I have a lock I've been trying to pick but I think it may be too hard for the torque tool. I have the key for it, it's just been a test dummy. I should probably start on a lock that isn't 15 years old ?? |

Sometimes the lower quality locks are harder to pick than one that is well made... |
| Probably the easiest lock to pick is almost any of the Master locks, they have what could be described as a design flaw, they know about it, but don't do anything to correct it till you get to their higher end locks. If you know how Master locks are made, you don't really need a key, and what is incredible, it would cost them a couple of cents per lock to fix this, maybe a penny per lock once the mod is made, and it would cure this very big security flaw. |

Is this the one that all you need is a shim? |
| I can't think of the exact name of the tool, but on most master locks, most of their designs, one small tool, you go right past the pins and push directly on the release, if you have the right tool it takes maybe 5 seconds, you don't have to pick the lock at all. Naturally the starter set that I ordered didn't include that particular tool, it had a good general selection, but not that particular one, someday I'll break down and order one. Watch some of the bosnianbill videos, he often shows how to do it. |
I just stumbled onto the video talking about that thing that makes some locks so easy to open. Most Master locks are made like the ones shown here, you can bypass them, you don't even need to pick them. Only the very high end Master Locks are shielded to prevent this method of opening.
