Ive been asked to build a chair for a pretty heavy person, weight undisclosed. Would I want to double up on the screws to hold it together, double the wood, both or use bigger or heavier screws?

I hope they told you how heavy they are, you won't know if you are dealing with 250 or 400 lbs.

Use oak dowels and glue on straight grained wood, preferably lapped at the joints.
