So based upon what was posted in the other thread here on open carry, I am not sure that I can open carry. I have my OK CCL, but I am in the mil so i don't have a OK issued picture ID, I have my Mil ID and my out of state DL. The Mil ID was good enough to get the CC license, but according to the statue, I need a OK issued ID in addtion to the CCL.
2nd Section 1290.8. B. The person shall be required to have possession of his or her valid handgun license and a valid Oklahoma driver license or an Oklahoma State photo identification at all times when in possession of an authorized pistol. The person shall display the handgun license on demand of a law enforcement officer; provided, however, that in the absence of reasonable and articulable suspicion of other criminal activity, an individual carrying an unconcealed handgun shall not be disarmed or physically restrained unless the individual fails to display a valid handgun license in response to that demand. So is there an exemption for Mil like there is to get the CCL for open carry or am I stuck to concelled carry even after 1 Nov? |
| As military you don't have the same civil liberties a citizen does. I don't think the legislature even considered military carrying openly in uniform. I'd think your unit commander or military regulations would have first priority in what you do in your uniform regardless of an oversight in the way the law was written. |

I don't think OP is talking about open carrying while in uniform. That's something completely different (carrying a military issued firearm while in uniform and on duty). I would bet many military people stationed here in OK that are not OK residents probably don't have any OK state issued IDs besides the OK CWL. Maybe Senator Russell could chime in here? |

just get a State issued Oklahoma photo ID, NOT a drivers license.

You can get a state ID at a tag agency for a small fee if you don't want to get an OK DL. ETA https://www.dps.state.ok.us/dls/okid.htm |

I seem to recall they would not issue it since I possessed an out of state driver license; I would have to relinquish it. Read the page you linked––the OK state issued ID is basically a form of ID for someone that would not be able to obtain a driver license. If you have a driver license you can't get a plain ID. That's how I remember my visit went two years ago. I could be wrong. Anyone out there possess a driver license AND an OK state issued ID? |

if you tried and it didn't work, maybe try a different tag agent?
they're all franchised and boy are the attitudes (and prices) different. rural agents seem the easiest to deal with. it specifically states a military id is what you need. yeah, reading it again, it seems that way (the non driving part) . still it's worth another shot. do they have a Okla. tag agent on base? |

No tag agent on base.
Might try one of the smaller agencies around here, medicine park, elgin and see if they will do an ID for me. I am not about to give up my out of state license since I am a resident of a no income tax state, at least for a couple more years. Just sucks that the statues for the conceled carry specifically state that Mil ID is good enough to get a CCP, but this is left out in the open carry statue. Working on getting my instructor certification and was planning on using my Mil ID for that will have to see if it gets kicked back. Most mil guys I know who have CCP got them from out of state and most haven't bothered with a OK CCP. And we can't carry on post, either in uniforn or in civies and most guys I know wont carry in uniform off base but I have not found anything that prohibits us from CC in uniform off base. Oh and I only give up some of my civil liberities to Military authorities (Federal) within their jurisdiction. As a member of US Military, I don't give up any civil liberities to local or state authorities. Just in this case I am a out of state resident and the ability to open carry only applies to someone who has a OK issued ID. |

From the SDA act:
Title 21 §1290.9. “…or has permanent military orders within this state and possesses a valid driver’s license from another state where such person claims residency;" The info below is from the CCSO website: Comanche County Sheriff's Office You must have the following items to be processed:
a. You completed application form b. Your original CLEET Training Certificate (this will be sent to OSBI). Copies will not be accepted. c. Your passport photos d. Your fee to OSBI e. Your fee for the Comanche County Sheriff's Office f. Your Oklahoma driver license (or state identification card) or military orders if not an Oklahoma resident. If you think this is good enough to hang your hat on if you're pulled over then go for it. |

Man aint that the truth!! I just went to the tag agency off of Douglas and they were trying to Jew me big time on that scooter I just bought. It hasn't been tagged since 1985 so I understand that there will be some penalties but $300 is a little crazy for what it is. So I called the guy in Choctaw and he said he could get it done for $190... Glad I called! |

Just tell them you had to replace the motor and sign the form with like 16 hours of work at 20 an hour and 500 worth of parts. Then you only have to pay two months of back fees.... I have a rock crawler and when it got broken I did not tag it for like four years so I only had to pay two months of fees or something like that. |

Just go in with your Military Id and Birth Cert and tell them you dont have a DL and do not want one. Thats what I did and I have a Texas DL and a OK ID Ok, has anyone been able to retain an out of state driver license AND successfully get an OK state issued ID without lying to the tag agency peeps? I'm not calling you out in a negative manner, so please don't think so. I just want to know who has been able to go through proper channels, without lies or false truths, and has been able to get an OK state issued ID while retaining a driver license. |
I miss read question
