I'm planning to put a magpul ctr on my new Beowulf lower but when I look at the buy options it says to choose between commercial or mil-spec. How do I know which one I need I need? Thanks

All ways go mil=spec if you can . You pay more but you get more

It depends on which kind of buffer tube your gun already has.  I assume you have a telescoping stock on the gun already.  If so, find out what tube you already have and buy the appropriate stock.  If you have a fixed stock, you'll need to buy a new buffer tube anyway, in which case, buy mil-spec.

When you get your receiver extension tube, the difference is in the diameter and also the design of the tube. Commercial is slightly larger in diameter and has a slanted rear most of the time. Another way to tell if the rear is not angled, is to look at the threads which go into the receiver and your castle nut goes on. Mil-spec threads are larger in diameter than the tube itself, and look to be "rolled." Commercial threads are cut into the tube and have the same general diameter as the tube itself.

If I have a choice, I always go mil-spec too.

you're buying a complete stock / tube assembly, just specify Mil-Spec.
the diameters are slightly different and commercial and mil-spec stock BODIES don't interchange well.
that's not a problem in your case.
plus it will interchange with your 6920 if you want to try it out.

Its got a regular A2 stock on it. So i gotta look for a magpul with a buffer tube assembly that comes with it...that makes more sense.

Ok, so i can't find anywhere that sells magpul buffer tube assemblies so what is the best brand to buy?

You can get a mil-spec buffer tube and castle nut at CHA for $30.

ETA that's for a generic buffer, don't know if it has to be MAGPUL specific.

If you have a way to measure the diameter of the buffer tube:

Mil spec= 1.15"

Commercial= 1.17"

There is really no reason to replace the buffer tube you already have, just buy the correct size stock to fit.

she's going from a fixed A2 stock to a collapsible stock and needs everything, therefore a kit containing the body, tube, buffer, castle nut, plate, and spring is the easiest way to get it all.

You're right, I was thinking she already had a collapsible stock, but she clearly says she has an A2 stock, my bad!

Stupid LaRue!  It's so irritating when you order something that says it's "in stock" then just when it should be arriving at your house you get an email saying it's on back order.  LaRue Tactical is now on my "do not order from" list. So no stock swap for awhile

Brandi, there's lots of suppliers, you don't have to go with the "names"
JSE Surplus has got the Magpul CTR milspec in black (or other colors, no pink) for $75.95
A Viltor (overkill for me, but it's not for me) milspec receiver extension (buffer tube) for $44.60
a Viltor "spring buffer kit" that includes everything else you need for $28.95
thats $149.50 and you can pare that down by not going Viltor
and you can see whats in stock before you order.
shipping from Missuori's pretty fast.
heck, you can get it all from Brownell's and use a coupon.
you need:
a stock body
a tube
a spring
a buffer
a castle nut,and
a end plate. you can get creative with the end plate if you want sling  points, ambi sling, etc.
installing a stock is literally a 10 minute job.
the biggest decision is whether to stake the castle nut or not.

see I'm too cheap for that high dollar stuff;

I bought one of the chinese knockoff m4 stocks (complete) at brigadoons for $25 a few years back; then I added a wolff extra power carbine spring

Yeah... I only chose them because they had everything I needed in one lot and, accordingly to them, was in stock. Now it's easier to just wait on it to arrive and than to try and cancel the order and have screw it up.

Yup, that's the same buttstock I ordered except the one I ordered was a complete kit with the buffer tube, spring, castle nut, buffer etc. The Magpul Enhanced recoil pad showed up today...still no buttstock kit from LaRue, supposedly it should ship within this next coming week, we'll see.

I'm pretty sure a cheapo stock on a Beowulf would result in an ER visit.

I normally buy my parts thru Brownells or Midway, both indicate whether an item is in stock or not before you buy it, and both ship fast.

According to LaRues website it was in stock when I ordered it. It wasn't until several days later that they emailed me to say it was on back order. Usually I go through Amazon or Cheaper Than Dirt but neither had everything I needed in one kit for a better price. I do love Cheaper Than Dirt because their shipping to Oklahoma is like two days max including the day you order it lol...it's great.

I've ordered all my .300 BLK ammo from CTD. I make sure it's in stock at warehouse "D" I think, which is in TX. If I order in the morning I can have it here by mid afternoon the next day

Yeah, it's like overnight shipping for normal costs, hard to beat.
