So we went to H&H Thursday for ladies night as we do occasionally but this time summer had kicked in. OMG those ranges are brutal...B was sweating so bad she couldn't keep a grip on her 1911 and I had to stop shooting several times because sweat dripping in my eyes was blinding me...when are these guys going to put their big business pants on and and upgrade their equipment. Every year I hear the same thing...'oh, we're planning on getting that fixed soon'...but years have passed and it's still horrible during any kind of warm day. Jeezs she and I have spent enough there ourselves to pay for a new system.
We decided that we will pay the extra money from now on to shoot at Heartland in Edmond...this makes Brandi very angry |

unless you have a yearly membership, aren't the range fees about the same? Last I looked the Edmond range was consideraby more expensive and lane fees were hourly instead of per day (or as long as you want to stay) at H&H. And, yes, the range facilities at H&H at are pretty bad. The target holders are rag tag and the shelf thingies between the lanes are falling apart. They've spent a lot of money remodeling the store area but nothing on the range itself that I can see. I don't understand that decision..they gotta make a lot of money off that range why not keep it up? I love going to H&H but they are really trying to make me not like it anymore |

I've shot there a few times when I was in the "area"; I don't really care for shooting indoors.
I know some people don't have don't have the same options of where to shoot as other members here on the board; but I'm of the thought that if you don't like/care for a place/business then you shouldn't support it by your dollars/patronage; the owner(s) will either get the "hint" people are not frequenting the establishment when they reconcile the daily receipts or they won't. it's hard for a business to make changes (read spend funds for improvements) when patron's are still coming in spending their funds no matter how dissatisfied they are; so if patron's want better service; they have to boycott the services they're dissatisfied with; the owner(s) will either take heed and make said improvements or they'll just stop providing the service all together when it becomes unprofitable for them. I'm no businessman but I'd think it'd be hard for a shooting range to stop providing that shooting range service. |
| I told them when i left that shooting on their range is brutally hot and i won't do it again. I told them that we will gladly pay extra in Edmond to shoot in an air conditioned range. The two girls and one guy who are working the counter just shrugged like they didn't care a bit. In fact they didn't even say a word about it, instead acting like they didn't hear what I said. I suspect they are probably told not to engage in that conversation by the higher ups. As you said it's going to take alot more than just one person walking out to do anything but we've done our part at least. |

i got into the habit of hitting Banner at 07:30 to beat the 110 degree heat last year, and have kept it up.
well, it slipped to 8 during the winter. it was wonderfully cool this morning, perfect, except for the wind (its ALWAYS windy there). i love the smell of 335 in the morning. and you can leave and come back the same day. no, not the same 24hr period. Harry wouldn't go for that. H&H just doesn't care. the minions especially. back before i knew better, i was shoppinhg for a Pelican case. i was willing to pay their retail (over $300), if they would just get a 20 inch AR off the shelf to see if it would fit. just unlock the glass, pick it up and lay it doen in the case. they wouldn't do it. i had to go home and get my AR and pay their inflated price. shame on me for doing it, but they suck. and it was what i BELEIVE to be one of the cheeses, not a lackey. |

Admit it, though, H&H has a bit of a mini monopoly on guns in the OKC metro since they carry the most and have enough staff. For this reason they can behave like they do and remain in business. |
| They mention the ventilation system, etc as the problem and they have to have fresh air coming in––hence the cold and hot. Problem is when I blow my nose after shooting in there it look like I have been working a full shift in a southern Illinois coal mine. About the only time I shoot there anymore is if I have to like a time constraint. |
Also, some stands between lanes on the new side would be nice.
