OK, might be down that way in late Jan.

Are there any good BBQ places in the OKC/Norman area?

Really would like some decent ribs and pulled pork

There is Rudy's on Hiway 9 and Chautauqua in Norman.  It is pricy, but real (not steamed) BBQ.  There are a few others, but I can't afford to eat it very often.

You need to check out Del Rancho in Moore.  And get the steak sandwich supreme though....

Also in Norman:
Van's (haven't had it yet)
Dickey's (not too bad!)

In southeast OKC, Sooner and SE 59th street (about a mile north of Sooner and I-240):
Billy Craig's (althought I think it has recently been renamed)

van's pig stand used to be pretty decent; wasn't all that good the last couple of chances I gave it; I haven't been back in several years so it might have gotten better, though it might still be the same or worse.

used to be a bbq stand in the parking lot of  three flags bowling alley that was damn good; it moved to west lindsay street when the alley closed and I guess closed up shop since I hadn't seen it in a while.

used to be the shop there at the ramada on 24th and west lindsay too; it was fairly decent; always had somebody in a pig suit dancing by the street; I see a big sign saying seats available on the building but I don't know if it's still a bbq joint though cause I hadn't seen the dancing pig in a while.

like justin said, Dickey's at 12th and alameda has some pretty decent ribs.

there's big daddy's down south in noble that has pretty decent ribs too.

the country boy grocery out at 180th and hwy 9 cooks up some pretty decent ribs too.

there's a billy sim's bbq at 24th and west main that isn't bad either; pretty expensive though.

like posted above there's rudy's on chatauqua and hwy 9 that makes pretty good bbq, they got a loaded baked potato topped with chopped beef along with all the regular baked potato toppings that damn good for a light lunch

I can only recommend Big Daddy's BBQ south into Noble... It's the only place we go, as it's 8 minutes from home and on the way

The best burger I've had in a good number of places.... Smokehouse Burger with half a hot link on top of the patty and cheese

I haven't ate at the moore del rancho in a long time but it was decent last I was there; the one in norman is down right poor; the sss is all breading and the "steak" is paper thin and the onion rings are extra greasy.

if you're looking for a decent steak in norman, the logan's is about the best I've found; it ain't great, but it ain't bad either.

the cheddars next to logan's isn't bad either; at least the chicken dishes aren't bad; hadn't ever had anything else there.

I've only eaten at the one in Midwest City that closed.  Oh how I miss the SSS.  There's a Del Rancho over in Clinton that I have been meaning to visit to see if they're any good.

Van's is great if you go to their original restaurant near downtown Shawnee, some of the others are a bit inconsistent, I ate at the Van's on Harrison street, the second location in Shawnee, and it was only fair, Thursday evening I ate at the original Van's, it was extremely good, and almost always is at their original Van's Pig Stand on Highland in Shawnee.

NASTY

Rudy's off 9 south of Norman is the only decent BBQ in the METRO area IMHO.

Jake's in Chickasha ain't bad.
We drive down there about once a year to eat there. It's worth the trip.
When DA left for Washington, I took him over to JT's in Del City.
My in-laws are in their 80s and they think it's the best they've ever had.
I've got to admit it's pretty good. Almost everything they serve is great.
From pork ribs to the peach cobbler.
They are down on Sunnylane in Del City.

I got the explosive trot's last time I ate at jake's this past summer; was on the bike, it was hot & miserable as hell too; there's nothing quite like having to pull off the side of the road and shit in the grass like a dog after eating bbq

jake's has been scratched off the bbq dining list

Thanks, will have to try the place in Noble (distant relatives lived there a long time ago) and the place off of HWY 9.  If I have time, maybe Del City.

Didn't go to Rudys, (BIL said don't), but did make it to Noble.

Didn't think I was going to fit thru the door when I was done.

Ribs weren't bad, but the sliced brisket and pulled pork were very good

Will have to try the ribs again (quality control thing ya know).  BIL had never eaten there, but he was ready to go after I told him about it.

Looks like might be having the opportinity to eat down that way more.  Kid is thinking of transferring to OU

Will have to try all the other places too!!
Thanks

Did you go to the Rose Rock Museum in Noble?
You are aware that Noble is the rose rock capital of the world?
culture? we got some!

I've got some nice rose rocks here on my place, about 5mi. ESE

But still, I've never been to the rose rock museum even living in Noble my whole life
