I've had one of those days that I'd like to slap the fuck outa someone.

We have been telling the asshats in management / administration at work how we need to secure
our facility and they always com back about budget and FTEs and shit.

Well Sunday we had an incident with an intruder that waltzed in the back door and prowled around
like he was a lagit visitor and stole some belongings  of a patient. He even came in contact
with numerous staff including Security but was never challenged.

So now admin is doing a knee jerk and one comment twisted me. Her comment was since
maintenance isn't 100% productive surly they can take on additional duties so Security
can sit on thier arse at the front door.

I almost walked out of that meeting, with my boss sitting there not saying a fucking word.

Granted I know I may not be 100%, but I sure as fuck go well above and beyond what is expected, that
is until now. Tomorrow I am asking the boss just how productive he thinks I am, I plan to maitain that in the future.

FUCK!!!!!

how the hell does locking doors affect the budget?

that is something that security should be able to accomplish in a matter of minutes.

When you have a bunch of college pukes with business degrees running a facility, they usually have no idea of what really goes on.
If they are requiring maintenance to handle intruders, I'd request them to send you all to CLEET classes, give each hand cell phones so you can call the police immediately, install security cameras and locks on all doors with a person monitoring all doors with call buttons for off hours, so on, and so on....

If I recall, in house security isnt required to go through CLEET whereas contract/private security is. But ya, if maint. people are going to have to start doin he work of security... Thats bad business in my eyes.

Absolutely true.

It's not bad business - it's stupid.

What are the maintenance going to do when they have a problem?
The employer would probably fire them if they whacked the problem over the head with a wrench.
That's why they should have clear cut, written directions as to what to do - written procedures to follow and training to do the job.
