Any recommendation on muzzleloaders under 175 i would prefer.  Is that a reasonable amount to pay for one?  I see good reviews on CVA does anyone own one.  I know really nothing about that except the videos i watched on You Tube yesterday.  Also on the videos i seen they loaded 100 gr's so i would expect the recoil to be less then most rifles is that true?

Technology has caught up with the industry.  They are all the same now.

check walmart too, I see them hanging in the sporting goods isle, especially after season they're marked down pretty good.

Nden is right on this. Walmart does give some pretty good prices.
I went with T/C in all of my muzzleloaders. Three of them are traditional and we've had them30+ years. My last one was an Encore with a Bergara 209 x 50 cal barrel.
The CVA single shot - Apex - with interchangeable barrels might be a great way to go for a lot less money than an Encore.

i was in walmart and was very close to buying the CVA buckhorn (because it was the cheapest and i didnt want to spend a lot on my first one till i knew i liked them)  But i think i might just keep the money and buy a new rem 700 for rifle season
