I was looking for powder to load the first of the 300 Blackout cartridges, Hodgdon Lil Gun was $29.99 lb at Bass Pro!
Well they didn't get any of my money tonight.  Powder Valley has it for
$17.35 lb!!!!!!  At that rate it doesn't take too long to pay for a Haz
Mat fee!  Surely somebody around here has it cheaper than Bass Pro.

What was the name of that online site for Gene Sears?

Same story every time I go in that place... Except for the cute girls in the women's apparel section there ain't much there worth the trip... I went last week to buy a pair of 30mm rings-well really to see if they had them- and they didn't. They sell at least four or five scopes with 30mm tubes and NO 30mm rings... Bloody retarded

Everyone talks about H&H bein high, but they ain't got $h1t on BassPro

Ehh...Bass Pro..I've never bought much there..all they offer is a bourgeois attitude...fair selection..and outragous pricing.

You would think it's the last chance for sporting goods for 500 miles..

Figured out Third Generation is the one I was looking for, and they have a competitive price on Hogdon's Lil Gun, $18 a pound, so I guess I'll be talking to them soon about some powder.

Does that place have a brick & mortar location, or online only?

I'm pretty sure Third Generation is the online store for Gene Sears in El Reno.

+1

if you're buying a small amount they're about the best price around, but if you buy in bulk powdervalley is normally your best bet.

If I can find a free afternoon and it isn't stormy, I'm going to call them and then pick up some powder to try.

I got my box from Brownells Monday evening and assembled the 300 blackout upper that evening.

is the blackout the same as a whisper; just different names to prevent patent infringement?

Similar, not exactly the same.  Its interesting that one company actually tested and certifies that their 300 Whisper is safe to shoot in a 300 blackout chamber, but it is only that ONE brand that is certified, I believe its Hornady.  There are 2 or 3 cartridges that are very similar, but only 300 blackout has an official SAAMI spec, and can be produced by anyone without paying any royalties or getting permission, which was one of the the problems with 300 whisper.  The engineers who developed 300 blackout say they didn't know the dimensions of 300 whisper when they developed 300 blackout, but the dimensions are extremely close.
