Do we have any here? Id like some pros and cons, likes and dislikes about it. Since it seems tmobile is gonna sell out to ATT, I'm in need of finding a new carrier but I don't like any of the other options, so the missus is talking me in to going to sprint and I've heard they may get the iphone soon.

What are the pros/cons?
What is liked/disliked?
Customizing options? Can I set my own home screen wallpaper? Can I change default ringtones/add ringtones to contacts?
How good is it at being a phone and ipod?

Were thinking about going with the iphone but I'm not fully sold on it cause its been plauged with issues, some I've heard are yet unresolved.

It's damn expensive. You end up paying two internet monthly access fees, one for your computer and one for your phone, then they charge by the amount of data you upload onto the internet too from what I understand, etc.. If they could charge you for breathing on your phone, they would.
My son has an Iphone and it's running him well over $100 a month. At one time it was $170 a month but he had it set up to watch his employees over the internet via security cameras he had in his store. He had GPS, etc.

I had a Blackberry and it sucked.  The Iphone is great!  You can customize just about everything on them.

Brother I hear your pain. I left Tmobile two months ago . . .  and since ATT sucks balls . . . I went to sprint. I got their unlimited plan with an HTC EVO for a phone.
I couldnt be happier honestly.

Yes I love my iphone 4 on Verizon I hated my BB and I still hate my work BB

Pros it is very easy to use and there are more  apps than any other phone.

Pros unlike ATT I never have a problem dropping calls

Pros It has an HD video camera and a high res still camera.

Pros the blue tooth is the easiest one I have used to set up

Pros lots of storages for what I do 32 gb.

Pros my service is chaper on Verizon than ATT

now for the cons

cons is that like any smart phone battery life is short due to the data capablity not as bad as my BB was though

cons the ONLY thing I like about the ATT network over my Verizon phone is the ability to talk and surf not that I use it alot.

That is not the experience I have had, Verizon has unlimitied data and have had it for a long time now on two phones.  The only time I have a quota is when I use my iPhone IV as a mobile hot spot and than I have a 2 GB quota. I do not use the feature often but I use it from time to time mainly to upload home work to the college when I am away from home.

Verizon also has a significantly faster speeds on their network vs ATT my buddy has a ATT ihpone and we do speed test comparasions all the time. My iphone always wins the race.

When the 4GLTE iphone  5 comes out I will have one that stuff is stupid fast.

Your not overpaying if your using it,  people that can get along without a smart phone will not benefit from owning one, but if you actually are using them for what they are, then they are worth every penny. I love mine and use it for scheduling, taking voice notes in class and making presentations at work. It is worht the money to me.

Yes

What are the pros/cons?
Pro: in addition to being a phone/text/camera/video camera which is always on your belt, it's an always on connection to the net.
I use mine instead of my pc at home to check email and google and goggle maps. Depending on what your interests are, there are
apps for all sorts of things. For example, a shot timer from Surefire.
Con: you have to learn to use the touchscreen  to type.

What is liked/disliked?
Most of the time mine is on wifi, sometimes on 3G, and sometimes on E. Using net applications on E is slooow.
We have 4 on a family plan: 2 3G's 1 3GS 1 4. The latter 2 have video cameras and other advanced features.

Customizing options?
Yes
Can I set my own home screen wallpaper?
Yes
Can I change default ringtones/add ringtones to contacts?
Yes

How good is it at being a phone and ipod?
You can carry a lot of music on it, but you still need an iPod for your complete music library. But there are no problems playing music from your iPhone through a music system if you have such a system

I got one a few weeks ago on a Verizon plan.  It automatically picks up available WiFi so my data usage is nowhere near the 2Gb the plan offers.

Yes, you can set your own wallpaper.  Yes, you can set ring tones to contacts.

It has better signal than the previous phone I had.

I don't use it as an Ipod.

The biggest drawback is what you can do with it.  There are so many options and settings that it can be confusing.

The apps are nice.  I've downloaded:

An interactive app for CCW laws in all 50 states.
Another app to track data usage that offers alerts so I don't exceed preset limits.
UPC/QR/Tag scanners  that automagically search for the lowest price and displays them.
One for grilling
A decibel meter.
One to calculate gas mileage that also tracks vehicle services
A conversion calculator
Weather
Stocks
Maps

I love my iphone, all the apps are awesome and the phone is set up real nice and easy to use.  Some of the cons that havent been mentioned yet that are important to me; the phones speaker can get loud which is nice for those of us with less fortunate hearing.  The phone is also the sturdiest and best built phone i have ever had.  Normally a year after i get a phone they start tweaking out and falling apart and im stuck with a crap phone until i can get another upgrade.  My Iphone is close to 3 years old and it is still running just like when i bought it, and my friends have found this to be true with theirs too.  My biggest and pretty much only con is the battery, but thats to be expected with just about every smart phone.

Yes, having a data pakcage on a phone is expensive. But if i were going to get one, i would go with the Iphone. Out of all of them it is the easiest to use, plus you can get a 3gs for like $50.00 right now.

My wife and I went on vacation to Colorado.  We both had smart phones and never got lost, had priceline for hotel reservations, and saw everything touristy that we wanted to see.  We love ours.

One drawback I forgot to mention...

As far as I can tell there is no 'mute'.

You can silence the ringer, but Youtube, your own recorded videos, games, and websites are still audible.

I haven't found a way to mute everything and, judging from some other tech site comments, neither has anyone else.

I had the Iphone 3G and did not like it but now I have the Iphone4 and love it (it is for non tech folks I'm told).
My wife has the Galaxy S (like the nicest one they had in the store) and it is cool but every time she tries a new app it messes up the phone so it has almost no apps. Next month the Iphone 4 is gonna be like $100 cus the new 4GS or whatever is coming out.
