| So, what do you all know about Lake Tenkiller? Fun, fishing, people, ect. |
|
It's a pretty good lake. Water is deep close to shore in most spots so you have to be careful where you let your kids swim.
Fishing is OK. Best fishing I had at Tenkiller was below the damn when they were letting water out. I caught some nice stripers. Back then you had to have a trout stamp to fish in the Illinois River which means the first drop of water out of the damn. |

I haven't done it myself though... |

I used the plastic shad bodies on a lead head, chartreuse, and caught one right after another.
Now a 5 lb striper ain't all that great, but when you are pulling them up against a fast running spillway current, it's great. You need strong line (30 lb or more) and a 1/2 oz head with a 4" or bigger plastic body. We'd put in by Gore on the Arkansas/Kerr/McClellan and take my boat up the Illinois as far as we could get, almost to Marvel Trout Camp, and hook them too. Tenkiller has some nice catfishing too. We spent a lot of time in the Pine Cove area and did catch some crappie and bass, but not spectacular. I showed my son (when he was 10) how to hook those old large carp. That was a mistake. He was hooking those 15 to 20 lbers up and down those docks so much the marina manager asked him to stop hooking them.
He'd lose most of them and they'd end up floating dead the next day which they didn't like.
We also deer hunted and turkey hunted in the East Lake Hills area quite a bit. Tenkiller has some fun things to do for young boys and men that haven't grown up. |

Does a lifetime cover that? don't think it covers it, but it's been a while since I read a regs manual. |
