Coming back from Durant today I spotted a range about 30 miles north west of Durant. First I saw the targets, looked like 4' by 4' plywood painted white and black circles in them, at about 100, 200 and 300 yards. Then the 600 came into focus and I thought that was neat. Then the 1000 yard WOW. Some one has put a lot of work into it.
Who owns it? |

Just saw this, M.
I can't remember the guy's name but he had a 600 yard competition out there a few years ago. You got 5 shots at 5 balloons at distances out to 600 yards. You had to start with a cold shot and get all 5 rounds off in 3 minutes if I remember right. Entry was $50 I think. I'm thinking it was in spring, summer of 2006 when I had my first knee replaced so I didn't shoot. A buddy shot and said he about more than a dozen shooters with a lot of lookers on. If you're interested in shooting a thousand, let's get together. I've got the dirt to shoot over but we don't have the targets yet. |

Flew over it again. coordinates are N 34 degrees 24.41 seconds by W 96 degrees 41.52 seconds. This is exactly 28 north west of the Durant hospital. A little east of Mill Creek and South of Connerville. No houses close that I could see. That ain't the one I was thinking about. Is it open land or are there lanes cut through timber for the range? FWIW, we have got some steel plate targets coming for that soon-to-be range I showed you. We should be shooting on it by May. |

Your place Dan ? No, a friend's. He has a 80 acres adjacent to a 160 with a nice hill, giving approximately 1300 yards from the section line to the center of the hill, over pasture and wheat. I showed it to M. a couple of weeks ago when we went coyote hunting. |

Going to host a long range shoot ? if so, I need to load up sum Berger (73gr) and make it tactical and hard as hell and score the shot ,be fun ,what say you. Can't really say. It's not my property and I'm not sure what he'll put in the pasture. Horses are there now but he may put cattle out. He want's to cut a flat spot on the hill to set the target frames on. Until that gets done, we're not shooting out there. |
