Big Boys has one with a defect stock (guy sportered it) but the rifle is in great shape. Price was about $570 which is a great buy. Of course, the stock would need to be replaced. Steve

Why not just order one from the CMP?

Thats where most of the Garands come from anyhow.

done checked the site out already, if I can find one local I like for the around the same price as the cmp I'll buy local, if not I'll go through the cmp process, I just like looking at a used gun before buying.

This is the key reason I havent ordered anything from the CMP yet, although the ammo is making me think about it.

I've been considering a road trip to the south store for some time. Every time I get enough in the slush fund to actually make the trip, something comes up.

that's what always happens, been debating getting a complete 6x45 upper I seen online or another garand.

bought the garand today, mostly cause I wanted it, partly because I don't want a complete 6x45 upper, I just want a 20" hbar 6x45 barrel which I haven't been able to located that I'm willing to pay the asking price.

what's the shits about this garand I bought is the hackjob rubber buttplate and finger grooves done to the stock, all the parts are stamped SA, fit tight and have a good finish on them, the rear sight/knobs are nice and tight, it's got a nm 062 front, good shiney bore/rifling with no pits and the muzzle isn't dinged up.

the stock has damn good looking grain in it and is fitted damn tight to the action, no wobble that I can feel; I'll have to do some more shooting with it at a bit farther distance, but it grouped pretty damn well at 50 yards with mixed 150 and some 165gr ammo, if it shoots as well at a 100, which I'm sure it will, I'll leave it on, if not I'm going to fit a boyds to the action.

going to do a bit more shooting this evening when I get off work, at least shoot up the last of my old loadings, last night I loaded up some of the rem brass with cci34, aa2460 and some pulled 150gr hornaday btsp, I'll tweak them a bit this weekend.

now I got to get another bayonet
