.... Posted earlier on the TX hometown forums, but very few real helpful advice on what to check out Friday before the OU/TX game and state fair on Saturday.
Seems like those TX guys want me to walk around at 2:00AM in the ghetto or check out the gay neighborhoods. 
What have you guys done in Dallas that's worth checking out? |

If you like watching a bunch of drunk college people, go to Westend in downtown on Friday night. It gets pretty wild, and the scenery is nice. The wife and I go there every year just for people watching and a few beverages. We will be there this year too. Yes the westend is FUN! Me and 3 friends went this summer to a Rangers game when they played the Yankees and stayed in Dallas. If you get a cab driver named Ari, he will show you a hell of a time. |

The Dallas Aquarium on the Fairgrounds, by the Cotton Bowl, should be OK to check out.
Then again there is the Texas Fair going on the weekend of the game. White Rock Lake is north of the Cotton Bowl a few miles. (I know it's a park but it's worth checking out!) http://www.dallasparks.org/Parks/whiterock.aspx The Galleria is a huge shopping mall east of I 35 at the junction of the Dallas Parkway and I 635. It has an Ice skating rink that you can go in if you rent skates. SMU is another decent place to check out. It's at Mockingbird and Hwy 75, a few miles north of the Cotton Bowl. There are places to eat all over Dallas but not any of them stick out in my mind other than Jack in the Box. I always liked their greasy fast food and they aren't in the OKC area anymore. |

| As others have said check out Military gun supply, cheeper than dirt and bauchman gun and pawn (sp?) As for lodging the crown plaza is the only place to stay IMHO. For food if you like seafood check out Landrys seafood or fish house or something like that, I cant remeber what the exact name is, it's f'ing killer. Today my boss gave me a pair of tickets. We were heading down anyway but the tickets really topped it off. Hopefully it will be a good weekend. Win or loose it's always fun. |
