I'm getting emails pimping her for Gov.

I am still registered as a republican. I dont really consider myself much of one. I think of myself as a Conservative first. Unfortunately, this means going for the lessor of two evils, usually the republican. Really getting kind of tired/frustrated with that choice.

I know that Oklahoma dems are usually better than say NY republicans. I think that if push comes to shove they will toe the party line though.

Unfortunately all that comes to mind when I hear Mary Fallins name is the scandal with the state trooper.

What do you all think of her?

she's a better choice than brad henry, besides Chuck, what politician doesn't have themselves a little something going on the side, the only ones we ever hear about are the ones that got caught.

There's another Republican running for Gov that I'm not familiar with, so I can't comment on him, JC Watts has a lot of skeletons in his closet that will come up again if he runs, some really fishy financial deals, beside the fact that he resides in Virginia now, I'm not sure that he can really qualify as a resident.  In addition the PR firm he works for also represents Tarrant County TX, the county that's suing OK over water, so another really bad relationship for Watts, if he runs that will be hammered into our heads by his opponents.

IMHO Mary Fallin is probably a good choice.

Democrat Jari Askins, I can't even imagine her for Governor, she looks like a middle aged dumpy housewife, not exactly the image to promote Oklahoma on the national stage.

fallin seems two faced. She needs to stay in Congress. I distrust anyone who runs for one office and runs for another before her first term is even up. Shes working for herself, not the people.

My dogs wang would make a better gov than our present Gov. Golly gee whiz.

Fallin would get my vote sooner than Watts or the present Obama supporter.

Ouch Mike. Dont hold back man, tell us how you really feel

Technically, I'm a little distrustful of anyone that actually wants one of the elected positions.

Fallin was re-elected in 2008.  Her first term was 2006.  So, she did not enter a race before her 'first' term expired.

Lots of bad things said about politicians here and many deserved comments, but we're not all bad.  Steve

PS - I have nothing 'on the side' and have been happily married for 23 years with 5 kids.

Nothing personal Steve. I'd like to think that you are more the norm than the exception, BUT, the way things have been going, I kinda doubt that. I'm not talking only about adultry/hoochy on the side, I'm counting all wrongdoings. Yep, broad brush and all that.

Call me cynical if you'd like. I've been called much worse

I've about gotten to the point that I don't trust anyone running for office. After all, who would want to put themselves and families through all that crap?

What do YOU think of Fallin?

IMO:
Let me rate your Congressmen and Senators from personal experience in dealing with their offices:
Sen Inhofe - They listen and if it's not much effort, they'll look into a problem. If it requires some effort, forget it.
Sen Coburn - Pretty much the same as Sen Inhofe's office. But they go more out of their way to avoid alienating you.
Rep. Don Boren - Probably the best Congressman in our state. He responds and works for anyone in this state, even if not in his district. But he's a Dem!
Rep. Mary Fallin - I dealt with her when she was Lt. Governor touring an educational facility I worked at. She is personable and appears to care.
She works a little more for vets than most of our elected officials. I like her for that.
But she is a political opportunist like all of them.
Rep Frank Lucas - Worthless
Rep John Sullivan - Not remarkable
Rep Tom Cole - Another non remarkable rep.

How your Senators, Congressmen and Representatives work with you depends on who you are. You can tell them your concerns and they will listen, nod their heads, appear to be very concerned, then forget the discussion 30 seconds after you leave.
Let's face it. I don't have tons of money, I don't have much influence. If I was CEO of Chesapeake or Devon or Oneok, it would be a different situation.
Same thing for anyone here.
Sorry Frank Steve , no reflection on you. I believe you're better than that.
Last February I went into see Sen Todd Lamb about getting a bill introduced. I had called his office and left messages for over a year. After I called several times a day for two or three days, I finally got in to see him. I outlined what and why the legislation should be introduced and his response was that I was one day late for him to introduce a change to an existing bill. They have bills that catch amendments for things that come up during the session. All legislation is supposed to be introduced in the preceding December.
He told me to get back in touch with him next December.

When dealing with Congressmen or any politician, who you are makes the difference. Right or wrong has very little to do with it.
I had federal grants for education tied up on the Governor's desk for months right after he first got elected.
He showed up at noon to his office and left at three to get back to his bottle.
I left that job before those grants got signed....
I heard from someone working in the AG's office about the governor's trip to France several years ago in the state jet. He brought back over 140 cases of wine he got in France, no taxes paid of course.
Compared to the governor we have now, Fallin might make a difference.
But who really knows until it's too late.

Who would run for office?  I've asked myself that many times Chuck. It is pretty crazy and you do get called all kinds of things.  I never intended to but found I could not sit idle.  Too much being taken away and too much government encroachment on our lives.  I am still tyring to test the theory to see if we can still represent us.  I don't know the answer yet, but I think it might still be possible.

As to Mary, she has always been very supportive of my veteran's organization and the work we do nationwide and she endorsed my race as well. On my trips to DC whenI have gone to lawmakers face to face to get them to not go wobbly on the troops fighting, she has always helped me.  I agree with Dan's assessment on her pretty much.  With what I see so far in the race, and it is VERY early, she will have my support.  Steve

She helped one wounded Marine I know gain his US citizenship. He was born in Canada and wounded in Iraq. The USMC didn't tell him he could gain his citizenship or that he had only 6 months from separation to apply.
ICE wanted $625 to renew his Green Card a few years after he was discharged. To make a long story short, Mary Fallin got things off of high center with ICE and VA bureaucracy after several months. He got his citizenship about 6 weeks after contacting Rep Fallin's office.
He had dealt with the gov't bureaucracies for several months prior with no success.
Rep Fallin does indeed support our troops and vets!

I heard Randy Brogdon speak recently. . .and I really liked what he had to say.  Talking smaller .gov and sovereignty issues. . .but he's likely all talk just like any other politician.  Unless something changes my mind, he'll get my support.

Rumblings that J.C. might throw his hat into the ring. . .no way I can support him after his tacit approval of Obama during the last election.

hell man, your not that much older than me, chicks these days are pretty fucking course, I've said hello, how was your weekend to a few at work, then had to tell them that I don't want to hear about their sex life, unless they've got a girlfriend they want to talk about, cause I can stand to hear a little bit of that.

shit man, take clinton for instance, if that fucker would just said to ken star "hell yeah man, I told that fat chick monica if she didn't stfu I'd slap her in the mouth with my dick, then dribble on her blue dress" he'd spent the last three years of his presidency smile like a bigdog for the media and fucking all the good looking female staff, lobbiest and interns instead of in front of a congressional investigation.
