Its the Chickasha auto club spring swap meet. Automotive stuff. Used to be one of the biggest in the country, of course the damn internet is slowly but surely killing it.

| Looks like I'll miss you today. School till 3 pm.....Then footus-ballus....Then heading up to Miami to spend the weekend at my folks house. My Mrs. wants to show off her new Vehicle and I wanna shoot some yotes that are troubling my folks chickens. It is all out war on the yotes tonight boys. |
I used to go to the swap meet when I was younger, and it was a blast to see and find little pieces, or even the big pieces to finish a project. I have not been in about 8 years because I am afraid to find a project. I can see it now, I find a part for a good deal and then it is all down hill I guess it is a good thing I don't have a garage these days!

Well, to say that I'm disappointed would be an understatement. A few years ago they quit using the county fairgrounds because they claimed the county was charging too much. The club bought the property right next to the fairgrounds and have been holding it there. So now they make you park at the fairgrounds and charge you $4 to park
I guess the internet has finally killed it. Hardly anything there. Even the classic chevy and ford place out of the city didn't even bother coming.

I haven't been in almost 20 years. When I went last, I took several young boys that were around 10. They had the best time looking at the old cars and parts.
My son still doesn't know a Chevy FI (double humps) head from PowerPaks but he remembers me giving them the low down on Chevy parts there.

I have a set of double humps in the shop. Thats old school hotrodding there
I learned a lot of years ago not to buy used heads or blocks at a swap meet What would you expect from an old fart? Hell Chuck, I used to be a fairly decent auto mechanic. But I'm too busted up to even remove a starter from a Cummins engine. It's been so long since I turned a wrench, I might not even know which way to turn it to loosen the bolt! |
