I am interested in buying an ASP F 21 baton, and am wondering about the legality issue, if there is any? Intent is to carry a non-lethal - escalation type self defense weapon ....along with my Kimber .45
thanks in advance |

Prohibited under Statute. 'Billy' is a catchall name in this that refers to a baton, nightstick, blackjack or any other number of names that they are known by. Expandable batons (Asp, Monadnock and others) fall into this category as well. Mace and stun guns are less likely to cause permanent damage when used over a baton. This is generally why batons are higher on the use of force continuum for many police departments. |

maybe I just don't get it, but why would you want to carry an asp, when you're already carrying a pistol? For those times someone just needs to be wacked instead of killed that's what fists and feet are for, along with whatever else happens to be handy |

I believe the legal term is disparate force, and possibly escalation of force???
I happen to be 54 yrs old , only in moderate shape and not a large individual If confronted by an assailant larger younger, brawnier than I , who is unarmed , shooting him upon confrontation is not necessarily prudent. An asp would serve as an "equalizer" yet not cause deadly effect. Getting your ass kicked -potentially - by said assailant yet not actually being in fear for your life, brings questionable the brandishing of a firearm or use thereof. |

Please reread my last comment " if the beastie had any brains!" - If you are likely to be in a location/situation where confrontation is more than likely - During your CCW class, you should have had a phrase drilled into your head - Surely you remember - " STOP OR I'LL SHOOT!!!" - ( see above comment ) I cannot pretend to know your situation/location/circumstances,but I can pray for you - If you are old/weak/sick/small male then you are the 2nd best target for a predator - I am not qualified to offer legal advice nor would I want to - I can tell you this - My grandpa used a 5 iron for a cane and it was very very effective - KEEP YOUR POWDER DRY !!! >>>>––-Stone––->>> |
