Habs, I've found young legislative assistants to be polite, very attentive when meeting with constituents, and totally without integrity when they promise something.
Very much like the elected legislators they work for.
You REALLY don't want to go that way, do you?

Though I have only worked with my boss in the legal arena for about a year I respect him which is more than I can say for the last lawyer I worked for. I honestly do not think he will turn into a "all about me" politician. As for myself I would quit my job before compromising my integrity. Further I find it hard to work for someone for whom I have no respect for, so should he ever follow down such a path I would quit working for him.

I love politics though and I thrive off of the whole atmosphere in a way. Anyway I think it would be a great experience and wonderful networking if it doesn't turn into a full time job.

but i am still young and have much to learn

It all depends on the path you choose in life. Be it the political side or actually give a shit down to business side.

ETA he is a Democrat

So we can pretty much sum up what this man is about. You are brave coming here trying to rally our support to a person of his character and political ties.

Is he pro Obama? I will put my money on yes.

You guys also need to fix your website. Everything important on that thing is BROKEN. If he can not even maintain his own domain on the internet for his business how the hell is anyone supposed to believe that he will maintain his office as he should.

ETA x2

Also on the topic of education, Smalley said that the possibility of allowing guns on college campuses - a proposal that failed during the 2008 session - needs to be studied more. Security on the campuses of colleges and public schools is an issue, but guns may not be the solution, he said. Other avenues need to be considered, he added.

Since you are here to rally his support then this question is posed to you. What is his solution?
What are these other avenues to be considered?

ETA x3

Here are some more impotant questions for you and him.

What has he ever done o serve his country, county, or state?

What has he done for the Vetrans community?

Has he ever taken cases or persued cases that he felt was in anyones intrest but his own for FREE? Did he ever go the extra mile for an obvious injustice to make things right?

I will stop there at the moment.

yes he is a registered democrat, but not all democrats are as crazy as Hillary and obama. I am a conservative, somewhat of a liberal one we seem to meet eye to eye on most issues.

So we can pretty much sum up what this man is about. You are brave coming here trying to rally our support to a person of his character and political ties.

Thanks for the heads up i will let him know that the website needs major work!

I will get back with you on that issue as i haven't really discussed it in detail with him and i really do not want to make a statement that is not aligned with his views.

ETA x3

What has he ever done o serve his country, county, or state?
no, he has not served in the military, he thought about JAG after law school, but got married and started a family instead. However, he does serve the community and is very involved in the legal field.

What has he done for the Vetrans community?

I am not completely sure if he has taken action in the veterns community, but i would strongly support him in this.

Has he ever taken cases or persued cases that he felt was in anyones intrest but his own for FREE? Did he ever go the extra mile for an obvious injustice to make things right?

yes, we do probono work, not tons and tons of it because everyone needs to make a living, but our office does more than most. I can think of a few cases that i have worked on with him where he has definitely gone the extra mile to ensure that he has done everything under his control for the good of our client.

I will stop there at the moment.

I am sorry that i do not have more sufficient answers for you right now Fister. And i suppose that i should be prepared to answer your questions since i did post a thread in favor of this candidate.

no, he has not served in the military, he thought about JAG after law school, but got married and started a family instead. However, he does serve the community and is very involved in the legal field.
Really I didn't realize JAG did not allow famlies for their personnel? If everyone got credit for what they thought about doing at one point or another then we would all be recipients of the medal of honor as well as the Nobel Peace Prize.

Please provide supportive evidence of exactly how he has supported his community? Other than work related stuff. I am sure if he stands to gain funding he will go out of his way, I am not talking about him making himself look better in the view of the public eye. Have you ever seen him pick up the tab for someone less fortunate? Ever handed a sign holder a bottle of water and something to eat? Volunteered at a soup kitchen? What do you know about him we dont. Why is he a better person?

What has he done for the Vetrans community?

I am not completely sure if he has taken action in the veterns community, but i would strongly support him in this.
So whats his hold up? Its damn easy to go to the airport for the posted arrivals and say welcome home and show them the support they are not receiving by people like him and his party.

Has he ever taken cases or persued cases that he felt was in anyones intrest but his own for FREE? Did he ever go the extra mile for an obvious injustice to make things right?

What kind of car does he drive? There is a difference between choosing that of necessity and indulgence. If he lives the high life than I would say he is more than making a living. His clinet is paying him. Has he ever stepped up to fight for what is right selflessly on his own accord?

I will stop there at the moment.

I am sorry that i do not have more sufficient answers for you right now Fister. And i suppose that i should be prepared to answer your questions since i did post a thread in favor of this candidate.

I look forward to his responses.

While your at it ask him if he is currently in support of the war. I am talking about today. Also ask if his view has ever changed and when and why?

ETA - Habbs I am not attacking you, please dont take it personal in any way. His standpoints are in queston here, however you brought it to an open venue. Unfortionatly you happen to be my only information feed to him and it seems apporpriate as you brought it up.

I can only assume that he would vote McCain seeing how he is not pro-Obama.

You're right several people raise families in the military, however, he chose not to and I do not fault him for it. Also I wasn't trying to give him credit for thinking about or intending on joining. It was simple a statement that was relevant to your question.

I, personally, have not seen him pick up the tab for a less fortunate person, but I am only with him at work. I can say he buys me lunch quite often, although I would not consider myself a less fortunate person.

I am not saying that he doesn't support the troops or veteran's affairs I just don't know of an example to give to you. It would be easy to go to the air port and greet the troops and I will mention that to him because I think it is a wonderful idea.

he drives a 2002 or 2003 Honda accord. Yes Honda's are good cars, but I would hardly call it something luxurious. His wife drives I think a 2005 ford explorer or something similar. and I stated that yes he does pro-bono work. which is doing work on the clients behalf for free. There is no benefit for the attorney besides the pure joy of helping someone that otherwise would not be able to obtain an attorneys help. So I would consider that to be selfless and no it is not tax deductible work.

Really though how many of our politicians do such things? Yes he should be different and I believe he will be separate from the stereotypical politician, but you have to remember this is his first rodeo. He is just getting his political career going. And as a beginner he is not going to know it all and do everything that you have mention/requested. They are great suggestions. I can understand some of this stuff being relevant but not all of it. what kind of car a person drives does not solely dictate what kind of person they are or how much of a kind heart they have.

Fister - I am not taking it as a personal attack. I understand that i do not have all the answers to your questions and i should be more prepared to convince someone to vote for the candidate that i support. Although i do not live in dist. 42. Anyway no hard feelings!

I asked Ivan Holmes, state Dem Chairman, point blank how the Democratic party platform differed from the Republicans on specific issues, He couldn't or wouldn't answer.
I did the same thing with the Rep state chairman and got the same kind of response.
It doesn't matter what party they belong to anymore.

Heres one thing that I've noticed this year that really bothers me. McCain says that he will do whats best for the country, not for the party. Democrats all say that they will do whats best for the party. Reminds me of the way the communists used to speak. Now before you all jump on me I'm not a big McCain fan. I'm actually looking at third party candidates. You can also spare me the "you're throwing your vote away" crap I havent come to a decision yet. I have almost decided to leave the republican party though. Well, truth be told they have left me

Habs, why is he a democrat? Sounds like he could be a republican.

He's a conservative democrat. I think that's why I agree with some of his view points, not all, but some. I think the biggest thing we disagree on are issues concerning the military/war/etc... And I am assuming because of those issues is the reason why he is registered democrat.

If you are an NCO and you allow such behavior you need to be demoted back to SPC and or chaptered out of the .mil. This kind of behavior is the #1 reason our military is on the decline.
