| A local news broadcast has some "guru" on oil and prices on this morning. He is predicting that gas will reach $4.25 a gallon this summer. He went on to say that he believes that by 1012 gas prices will be $10.00 per gallon. Well.... I say BULLSHIT!!! I am sick of getting stuck by the big oil producer dynasty in the US. It's time we do something gentlemen. We need to get on the horn with our local politicians and find out when they are going to start looking out for us a little bit. This is getting way out of hand. |
I'll ride a hayburner first. Might be slower but piss me off and we'll leave you a present.
|
Horse shit, you say!!!!!!! |
what, you gonna stuff my mail/letter recepticle full of horse shit? there's one good thing I can think of when it comes to horse shit, and that when it's dried, it makes a damn good fire, somewhat like charcoal briquets. make that two good things, it's fine watermelon/tomato fertilizer when tilled under in the fall. |
Hmm, sounds like we should have a discussion about the benefits of horse shit vs. cow shit vs. bull shit. |
well there's uses for all of them, it's just sorting out the right one for the situation. |

Wolrd demand for oil/gas is outpacing the refineries abilty to produce, simple economics. You are sounding a bit like a libtard, OP. "let's do it for the children" Capitalism=America. Demand is more than supply; therefore, price goes up. Your post is pure socialist. "Help me, gubmit!" |
, really I thought it had to do with the lower value of the dollar when compaired to the euro and the lessening value of the dollar against the yen.of course I can be wrong, but the oil companies were posting record earnings again this past quarter. and an American consumer boycott won't work on oil/gasoline, it'd be like an early 80s ethiopian boycotting food. remember that 7th grade joke back in the 80s, "whats the fastest animal in the world" and everyone would answer "a cheeta", but the answer was "an ethiopian chicken"

Business' are run for a profit. Earnings have a direct relationship to demand. If your neighbor makes more than you do, should you share in his/her wealth, and transverse that to apply to you. Would you let/want someone to take hard earned dollars out of your wallet because they had less. That's Socialism. |
It allready happens, mandatory withholdings from paychecks, taxes. I am not talking about providing for a common defense, but to many "social programs" that the .gov funds buy forcefully taking money from me and giving it to others. |
| There are more things effecting the old "supply and demand" in this case. The damn tree huggers share a large part of the blame (and us for putting up with the ridiculous BS from them). How long has it been since we've built a refinery or a nuclear power plant in this country? You know why it's been so long? |

There's a damned difference between making a profit and raping someone. No one is against anyone making a living. But we are damn sure against controlled markets - i.e. the gov't controlling energy so just a few congress owning companies make huge profits at the expense of the masses. Don't start calling others liberals because they care for what happens to our children in the future. If no one cared about the future of their children, there wouldn't have been an American Revolution. It's thinking that unregulated capitalism is good that let robber barons make billions off of the workers that sweated and starved for cheap wages. THIS AIN'T CHINA OR INDIA WHERE PEOPLE ARE MURDERED FOR ORGAN DONATIONS! Life is cheap over there and gas is very expensive. Do you get my drift of what could happen here if we let thinking like yours continue? This current situation isn't because of demand - it's because the market has been controlled for this to happen for DECADES. Like Chuck said, there hasn't been a new refinery or nuke built in the US since the 70's! Have anything been done about mass transportation since the first oil crunch of the 70s? Has gas mileage on American made vehicles increased much since the 70s? Does the US have a long term energy strategy now or at anytime since the 70s? No, it's pretty much the status quo because when someone starts it up, too many groups stop it to maintain the status quo. Oil and the environmental groups are pretty much like the Baptist preachera and bootleggers here in Oklahoma that kept Oklahoma dry until 1959. Neither group wanted legal sales of booze in the state and worked together to keep it from happening. |

1shott - Of course there are many "social programs", I don't care for any of them. And I certainly wouldn't ask for more of them. Chucks1911 - It is supply/demand regardless of what the underlying issues may or may not be. I am speaking of world demand and ability to produce not just the U.S. Danc46 - Typical asinine post from you, full of attempts at diversion. Good luck in your miserable existence, sir. |
Why thank you!!!! It's the narrow visioned and self centered individuals such as yourself that makes my life worth living! ETA - Please feel free to tell us more about supply-demand economics and how markets are "free" in this country. Enlighten us with your knowledge! |
I do every day and know that I've tried to do something about the problems many of the people in this country are facing. When was the last time you visited a Congressman or Senator's office and tried to do something to help improve the lifes of Americans? Or are you one of those who sit back and make caustic comments about hard working people here being "libtards"? If you haven't opened your mouth in a public forum and just like to hide behind a keyboard with your caustic comments, you're a hypocrite. And I'm certainly not afraid to tell you to your face if we ever have the opportunity to meet. |
And where would that have been, son? Was I intimidated by your towering intellect and hid in a corner? ![]() And speaking of old adages, not addages , Here's one for you, "Beware of waking up sleeping dogs." That saying hasn't got a friggin' thing to do with high gas prices and neither does yours. ![]() This world is full of different types and different opinions. If you don't like mine, I feel real bad abou that. All I can tell you is that Paul Monies, a reporter for the The Oklahoman, has told me on more than one occasion that everytime gas prices increase like they have been for the last few months, people call him by the hundreds telling him they can't afford to buy the gas to go to work and pay their bills at the same time. But for people like you, who seem to think they are superior to others, just shrug a shoulder and go on down the road until it affects them. With an attitude like that, do you think anyone is going to trust you with their back? |
, really I thought it had to do with the lower value of the dollar when compaired to the euro and the lessening value of the dollar against the yen.
