I think that I remember a post from one of the firearms instructors.  I was wondering how many of them are on here.  I would also like to know if there is a place near Ada that I can go shoot.  I was told to check with the local pd, but I don't think they are very happy with some of us at the pig factory.

As far as ranges near Ada I don't know andy public ranges and only one private membership only range (Ada Rifle and Pistol club).  Not a bad range last time I was there but you usally have to bring your own target stand.  Membership was like $100 a year.  Too steap for me.

If you shoot trap/skeet Ada has a great range for that.  Although it's only open 3 afternoons a week but it's pretty cheap and a really nice range.  Member ship is $25 a year and a round is only $2.50 for members and nonmember is either $3.50 or $4.

There are several current and former CLEET instructors here. What are you needing?

I fit the former. You fit the CURRENT category.
The only thing I can do now is sign off LEOs for requal.
I'm just an ex-wannabe while you are the real thing, although retarded retired.

I was just curious to see how many instructors were members here.  I have only met about 3 of the firearms instructors so far.  Most seem to be pretty cool.  I go nuts sitting in the dorms after class and would like to go shooting.  One instructor advised that the CLEET range would be a no go.  The Ada PD has already had run ins with some of my classmates, so I would imagine that their range is off limits as well.

Just curious, but what do yall instructors normally shoot during the class?

I think that we are talking apples and oranges here. You sound like you are in the academy down in Ada? Question should have been something along the lines of "Any CLEET firearms instructors at the academy in Ada on here?". Because I'm CLEET certified to instruct the SDA, makes me a CLEET certified instructor.

Oh but I really don't like to instruct anymore. At least not unless a friend or two twists my arm.

I shoot on my own property.

Ask our imperious leader (1shott) where he shoots. He's from down that way.

My one specialty with firearms is shooting from a vehicle. Targets include deer, coyotes, jack rabbits, stop signs, etc. Which means my shooting range is anywhere I can put four tires on the ground.
If the PD down there is hostile to the cadets (doesn't surprise me!), go over to the ARNG armory and ask one of those boys to suggest a place to shoot. Or try the county sheriff's office.
Four or so years CLEET cadets stayed at the Regional Training Center in OKC and used Oklahoma Military Department facilities. Since they moved to Ada, it doesn't seem like things run as smooth as they used too.
As far as shooting, our grand poobah 1shott will be along to help.
He's a good guy and will surely help you find a place to shoot.

ETA When I was around CLEET in OKC, it seemed most of the cadets used Glock 17s. But that was a few years ago.

Yeah, member "smokeater" is one.  He's out of shawnee.  I'll email him and let him know about this thread.

He will know the answer to your question.

I'd be interested in knowing what kind of "run ins" your talking about, doesn't sound like a good way to start a career.

Other than a few demos to the cadets, instructors don't do much shooting during the academies and then use whatever they're carrying.  There are very few full time instructors employed by CLEET, most of us are there from other departments on a "volunteer" basis.

Well, what do yall instructors instruct?  There has only been 1run in so far.  I was not involved.  Noone was arrested but people were out of line on both sides.  I just need a place to shoot so I can blow off some steam.

I can't speak for 1shott, but I don't know of any other places to go shooting around here. That is unless you know someone locally with some property. I think Lexington is the next closest range.

Good luck with your training, and welcome to hell  Ada. I'm joking it really isn't that bad here...most of the time.

Nope, I have been too worn out.  That DT class is sure hard on us fat boys.  It did give me a good kick in the ass.  I finally realized that I am in horrible shape.  I have now made some changes and am loosing some weight.

BTW Some of the guys said that one of our DT instructors was one of the Ada PD guys at Chili's that night.  They really don't like him for some reason.  One thing is sure, they do not and will not say a dang word to him till we are out of the class.
