It says: This document contains sensitive electronics. For best results, do not bend, perforate, or expose to extreme temperatures. I just got my new passport today and read that inside the back page. That means digital tracking of US Citizens. ![]() I know Oklahoma uses a digital program on Drivers License photographs. You can't wear glasses because the reflection messes up two points of the three they use for ID purposes. I"m wondering if we'll end up with IC and digital info on our Driver Licenses in the next few years. At Halloween I got stopped at a road check. That was the night they popped 500 or so in Oklahoma County for all kinds of offenses. The OHP had a podium set up with a computer on it. I'm sure my license was scanned - there is a bar code on the back. I'm wondering how long before we get IC's - integrated circuits - in our Oklahoma state licenses!!!! |
Frankly, it scares me. Lots of Mexicans pull the strips out of one hundred dollar bills. They believe it is used to track the money. ![]() You know that is probably ridiculous, but this Passport deal kind of shook me up. I'm beginning to think that Revelations may be addressing this era, that we will have to have the mark of the Beast to do business. ![]() As far as wrapping it in tin foil, just put your cell phone next to it. The tracking waves of the cell phone may wipe it out. I know it will do it to an electronic key card. But then, the cell phone companies can provide your position to gov agencies if they request it. So you're already tracked if they want you. Technology will continue to change our lives in ways we can't even conceive of. |

It's not an IC chip... It's RFID. IC chips require 'active' power sources. 'Active' power sources have finite lifetimes. RFID is 'passive' meaning it uses external power such as the radio transmitters at wal-mart's exits. Two fairly good methods for killing an RFID: 1) Striking it with a hammer when you locate it leaves little to no evidence of deactivation upon visual inspection. My best friend tried this method on the same trip I used the second method on. 2) Microwave that bad boy. It only took three seconds for my passport in my 1980 Litton Minutemaster. Anything more and it would have scorched the paper. As for the cell phone... it never hurts to have several prepaid phones laying about for things you don't need traced. ETA: grammar |
RFID, like in car keys. Or in a pure bred pet or livestock? But isn't it also a microcirucit, LSI, or form or IC, integreated circuit? |
Same technology.
Going back and reading my sleep deprived response now is like finding out what I did after a few dozen beers. What I meant to say was that not all RFID tags are ICs. Integrated circuits include a power supply. Passive RFID tags don't have built in power supplies (i.e. batteries.) which excludes them from that categorization. |
An inductive coil, an RF frequency, and digital circuitry used to send digital info? I programmed two extra keys for my truck that didn't have the remote locks. It's a sealed key, no access to a battery. I worked for years on circuit boards that had discrete components, then moved to equipment that did surface mount. I had some interest in these RFIDs after messing with those keys but never really get into it too deep.. Thanks for the info. |
You may not want to kid around about that use of technology. When you get down to it, it is damn scary if you believe in the Bible.
