I think I may get a CCL this summer. I know I should have it by now. |

I got mine about a year ago. Very easy if you know ANYTHING about gun handling. I set next to a lady who had been car-jacked twice and she swore it wasn't going to happen again-she brought a S&W 44Magnum. The instructor asked her if she had shot a gun-any gun before and she hadn't. Everybody in the class recommended a smaller gun and claiber. The class was all day-shooting was at about the 7 yard range and lecture was most of the day. Quite easy,my wife went through with a Sig 9mm and enjoyed it. Last part, I got mine for traveling. Hope that IF I ever use my gun this CCL will minimize my legal standing. |

Got mine in Houston Texas. Cost $100 for the class and about +or- $100 for the CCL. The wait was when I mailed it to Austin for final approval. This took about 3 months-they were backed up. The wife got her's also. she did well/passed. Back in our college days we would go back to my folks farm in Chandler and I taught her how to shoot. Started with a 22 pistol and rifle, slowly worked up to a 9mm, 44-40, 45 long colt then a 45acp. She doesn't like shot guns-16,20, 12. But does like my 410 pump. Magnums are out of the question to her. can she shoot?? Oh yeah!!! She also looks pretty cool with her Stainless Steel Colt 38 super. |

The only problem I had was getting a set of fingerprints the OSBI would accept, I am a former Deputy and you would think they could use the ones already on file, but no, they needed new ones. I have done a fair amount of fingerprinting and I know that my fingers aren't the best for printing, very fine prints, hard to get a clear impression on the cards. After having 2 sets sent back as unusable, I contacted them, finally went in to the OSBI offices for fingerprinting. I was CLEET certified and didn't need to take the training course, I just sent them a copy of my CLEET certification and that was OK. |

The class is a joke for sure unless you have never handled a gun,and thats whom a lot of the little old grey panthers are! Just be sure and put down every offencse against you! One guy takeing the class had been arrested multiple times for agravated assault .ect and still got it! Turns out he was a repo man for the bank, and many times the allegded owner of said vehicle just didn't want to give it up! I put things down arrestes made in 1968 before they stored things in(computers) or even had computers, its just the one thing you don't list that will come back and get you bite in the ass! A 9X19 isn't that much more than a Mak and easier to control and half again as cheep to fire! Bob |
