How the HELL did it not go bright red???? Because of Tech/Radford/College stuff?
Im about to move to Floyd County.... |

The answer to your question.... Yep. SBE breakdown
I would really like to see an actual analysis of how many students voted locally and at their home of record. |

Require a voter card with an RFID chip. Negate that voter activity if used more than once. Someone will cry mark of the beast, so I suppose we could fall back on different reader technology that law enforcement already uses on us. |

Its the college and the carpet baggers who move to the county. Perhaps it's the college(S), but I was student in B-burg during the 2000 presidential fiasco, and at that time it wasn't the case. Can't speak for Radford, but VT has historically been apolitical and I thought responded quite well to media shill during the worst campus shooting massacre in our nation's history. So those that have been in the area for a while.......what has happened??? I think there may be something to certain students multi-voting and that was something that just wasn't a factor 16yrs ago. ETA: yes, I know Radford isn't in Montgomery, but it is the liberal arts school and lots of students/faculty do not live in Pulaski. |
| 16 years ago may not have been as big of a factor but the last few elections have certainly been driven by the Tech area. The historical numbers show it. Each election has people looking at the county asking "WTF? Oh, Tech is there." Certainly, different programs will lean different directions. Also thankfully its not as bad as some California schools. |
| I don't doubt that there are more liberal influences these days. Did the elections start swaying blue before 2008? I'm just wondering if there is a more political element embedded in VT/B-burg that may be tainting the locale.....like that JMU punk that was recently caught. VT has had a huge amount of NOVA, MD and NJ students for decades, it's not like all of sudden they're pulling away from red areas. A school that prides it's in agriculture and mechanics and has such strong military ties can only get so liberal.....there's something more going on if the place is solid blue now. |

Occupied territory already started to use driver license scanners that read the barcode on the back of the license. Yes there are many students that live off campus in Blacksburg. Also look at the facility and alumni neighborhoods surrounding the campus, plenty of voters there. |

The VT Twitter showed Young Dems signing people up to vote before the election. I am surprised that Floyd has not moved blue either with the "Earthy" types that live there. Yeah, we have some earthy types but look at the stats, 66% Trump and 28% Clinton. We aren't going blue any time soon. |

I am down the mountain from you and we were 69% Trump / 26% Hitlery. My grandfather was originally from Copper Hill and I have a lot of family roots there. The wife and I agree that if we could not live where we do we would go to Floyd. |

So "community organizing" has been hitting universities since 2008? Floyd seems more like hippies and country bumpkins....they aren't as easily coerced as an emotional college students needing a safe place. Is there an effort to investigate voter fraud in B-burg? |

We wouldn't have all these damn hippies except for Floyd Fest. Honestly they aren't too bad here. Not really pushy as far as politics but definitely have that "buy local" and "eat natutal" thing going on. Don't guess that's too bad but hey, I but local, from Food Lion. Lol. |
