| Is it legal to carry while hiking in VA? Places that I might go hiking are at Bears Den down route 7, some of the trails along Skyline Drive over in Front Royal or a little of the Appalachian Trail. |
| Stete parks are gtg for cc. You need to check the latest rule changes for natl forest and natl parks. The natl forest , afaik, is concealed carry only. I don't believe the natll park allows any carry but like I said, you need to call and check with a rangers office. The websites may not be up to date. Either way, remember, even though it may be legal to cc while hiking, it is still illegal to enter a building / structure on federal property while carrying. This is easy to overlook while in the natl forest. |

I extensively hiked concealed, as long as you have a CHP you're good to go. I recommend using a pouch on your kidney strap for your day pack to stow a micro 9mm in. All other configurations haven't really worked that well for me.
- WMA - National Forest - National Parks - State Forests All are good in VA. The problem that we need to change is to allow OC in those areas apart from hunting seasons, which then requires right firearm, license, and season. It was on the VCDL docket for this year, until the Dems did the take over... |
