I do not understand about all the crazyness of people complaining on backorders.  I need an education because if a company does a backorder then it is nice that they do it but if they do not have a eta from the supplier or if the supplier gives a eta that they cannot meet does not mean that the company that took the backorder should be blamed.

Maybe I am off but all the complaining about a company taking 2, 3, 4, 5, months to fill a backorder should not be a problem.  They want to fill it because then they can get funds from your purchase.  Now if a company needed funds up front then that is another issue.

I think there are two different things going on:
1) People knew the item was backordered but ordered anyway. In the past the backorder has never taken this long to be filled. Or the backorder is past the date in which it was supposed to be filled.
2) The company who took the backorder did not list the item as being backordered so the customer bought it thinking it was in stock.

People are people, we always find something to complain about.

I never understood such complainers, either.

I know in certain instances, some companies have LOST money on my backorders because source cost was raised prior to them getting stock back in.  Maybe they didn't actually lose bottom-line, but they certainly took a big hit on their profit margin.  Other companies have cancelled my orders for the same reason... thru my own choice, guess who continues to get my business, and who doesn't?

Longest backorder wait I've had to endure was 19mos.  Forgot I had even placed the order when the item arrived.

More recently, Brownells filled a couple M3 PMags I ordered just prior to Sandy Hook.  And I have a backorder of primers from PVI being delivered tomorrow.  All pre-panic pricing.
CMP has a backorder on 22LR and they say April is the earliest... even then, they can't guarantee they'll get enough to fill all backorders.
Fine by me.  I can wait.

If I need something bad enough, I can cancel my order and look elsewhere.  My opinion is that any would-be complainer can do the same... and I wish them luck.
(Well, not really)
