This is an AAR to Graham Combat Intensive CQC vehicle handgun course.  Ref this post http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_8_24/478247_Vehicle__Movements_and_CQC_Intensive_2_day_at_EVTC_on_Mar_31_Apr_1.html .

First off, thanks to CR at Echo Valley, WHAT A HOST.  He showed us all a good time and stayed for the entire 20+ hours of the course.  Thanks for showing us the local flavor and for the great conversations.   Oh and thanks for letting me shoot that LWRC, I have waited a long time to shoot one of those.

We had a strong showing of 8 solid students.  Experience ranged from none to experienced DOD types.

Day 1:
0900 (approx)
Safety brief, medical brief and everyone got to request what they were looking for in a course.
Graham discussed his background in local and federal law enforcement and with the DOD.

First: Dry firing, manipulation, handgun basics, mindset, fighting wounded and medical implications of GSW's.
Second: Shooting and moving, shooting from various positions, barricades, team movement, shooting from and around vehicles and downed operator drills.
Dinner
Nightfall:
Shooting in the low light and no light, then in lanes, in different positions and then with vehicles.
10:30pm (approx) end of first day.

Day 2:
09:30 (approx) Medical brief review.
Dry Firing, shooting lanes, shooting while being assaulted.
Since this is not a food based course, we worked through lunch.
Shooting from vehicles. Shooting into vehicles.  Shooting through vehicles.
Working as a team, communication and downed operator drills.
At this point we started comparing students abilities at the beginning of the course to where we had arrived by the end of the course, all students expressed satisfaction with the improvements in their techniques and skills.  (Some drills are timed and you are asked to keep track of your times).
I will not give away all of Grahams secrets on the internet but EVERYONE felt execution of Grahams techniques with vehicles was not only relevant but a whole hell of a lot of fun too.   (2 weeks ago I was invited to take another shooting from vehicles course and still learned a lot from Grahams input.)
We then did a fun drill called "Shoot other dudes stuff".  Shooting each others weapons and learning about what other people are carrying. There was a department issue sub-gun to play with and a nice sample HK MR556 out there too!
Then we had an AAR and Graham discussed his plans for future courses at EVTC that CR has already put up on thehttp://echovalleytrainingcenter.com/ schedule.
Then we received our very nice certificates and he took a second to share with us the meaning of the marks on the cert.
4:30pm (approx) End Exercise

Things I learned include:
Shooting 750 rounds out of a subcompact .40 in one day will put a hurting on your hand.  I shoot much better with 9mm even starting the day with a soar hand.
RE-inforcement of grip and front site basics, especially under stress can straighten out missed shots.
With reinforcement of the basics I can shoot much faster and more accurate than I thought I could.
I don't reload in my face as much as I thought I did, I got called out a couple times for loading looking down at the ground.

To sum it up:
Exhausting and a great investment of time.  I will attend more classes in the future.
