Hey guys I attended the Peacemaker National Training Center “Intro to long range shooting” class today and wanted to give a brief review for anyone who may be interested. To begin I have to tell you this was my first class so I have nothing to judge it against. Now that that’s out of the way…
THE CLASSROOM First I want to say the staff at PNTC is top notch super friendly and very informative I can’t say enough about this they truly make you feel welcomed and comfortable. The class is instructed by Cole McCulloch how let us know his extensive background in long range shooting. We learned about proper gear, proper technique, wind reading, common mistakes made, facts and myths, and much more. The class also went into long range hunting and making ethical shots at long range. The class was held in their main office building and made for a comfortable and quite atmosphere. THE RANGE Most of the participants were using a rented rifle from PTNC these were FN-SPR’s outfitted with bipods and a Leopold scope there was also a Remington 700 and a McMillan TAC-50 (wow what a concussion haha) in class. We began on the 100 yard line there we worked on the fundamentals to ensure there were no major flaws in form or equipment and to get a feel for the rifle. Each student fired 10 round (two 5 shot groups) here the class learned an important lesson one of the rifles had not been returned to zero from a previous class “always check your gear before you go to the range”. From there we moved to the 300 and 600 yard ranges there we fired on steel silhouette targets. This is where what was learned in the classroom became very important as we had a fair amount of wind blowing. I will say that is the farthest shooting I have ever done and it was a blast to hear the rifle crack…….. then the steel ping, Cole was very attentive to make sure each students received the proper feedback as to ways to improve their shooting. CONCLUSSION Overall this was a great way to spend a Saturday the class did run over and that was fine with me as we weren’t dictated to time as long as all the content was received. I appreciated we weren’t short changed just to make up for time. I have to say the number one priority on the range portion was safety no shortcuts were taken. From what I could tell every person was very happy with what they took away from the class I know I was and I would recommend this class to any person who is looking for a better understanding in long range precision shooting. If you haven’t checked them out I recommend you swing by their site they have a lot of upcoming classes I know I’m looking forward to attending the next one. https://peacemakernational.com/Home_Page.html |

Man I would love to do this class, but I dont see them offering it any more. I am also interested in knowing what it cost. He will open a class at your request I have been corresponding with him over email. He says they dont know if they are going to do another LR101 class, and might only concentrate on their LR201 class instead, but i told him i would sign up for the next 101 and wouldn't do the 201 because of price and that its 2 days (mostly because I assume it cost $700ish since its 2 days and you have to use their gun and ammo). |

I've been out there three times now. Staff is great and they are continuing to improve the facilities. What time are you thinking about being there? Heading up there to shoot about 9, look for a Silver avalanche and a Larue hat. I probably wont be there till around 2pm, i have an IDPA match at 11 in NoVa, leaving my house in Manassas around 1230ish i hope puts me there around 2pm. I will be in th giant 6'5 300lb guy in a white Subaru outback (i kinda stick out I am told)... If i see your truck, i will come say hello |
| I got out there today around 3pm, walked around and talked to all the RSO's, great place. I Kinda wish they didnt have a 3gun match going on so i could see what normally happens in the pistol bays. I am mostly interesting in practicing and shooting steel and when I talked to Cole, he said there are usually some steel stuff left out, but dont really know what. Also wish I got to see Patriot rage in action. That seems awesome. Any of you that shoot at patriiot, i only saw normal paper targets there, do they have hanging steel to shoot normally or is it only paper (and the electronic stuff)? |
| Tactical solutions silicon cover. That one was slit down the center so that I could put it on like I did but also have it off to fit under the spikes forearm for my 300 blkout built. I really need to look for something different as that one moved as it wasn't tight like it should be. I have another one on my .223 can and that on worked great |
| REL yeah the tactical bays have a dueling tree and a plate rack always out from what i could see then there is a 3gun course setup that is usualy setup. again this is only from what i have seen and is subject to change i think i saw you out there talking to the RSO's today i was on the rifle line shooting with the bullet make me happy shirt. Also they have steel torso targets set up for the patriot range in between the larger paper targets. heads up also to anyone interested they put out a flyer today for a tactical precision match coming up in june should be tons of fun |
|
Let me know, I would do a LR101 class. They made a ton of changes since I was there last year! Jerry and crew did a great job for the first regional 3-gun match.
Put my name in for the tactical match if it opens up to civilians Quoted:
i can ask cole, maybe we could do a WV/VA HTF session? |
I think it was Cole, he indicated that we should put our name on the email list in the office and the floodgates to Civ would open 1 May, if it has changed, then I better figure out how to get range qualified soon

Well grab a flyer or email them because they opened it to civilians |

I saw a couple people there, but was running super late so didn't get to talk to anyone but the RSO's (who were super cool and nice). We took the walk out to the Patriot range target area, they only had paper, but since the range was closed, they might not just leave the steel out there I guess... I really enjoyed the range, my main reason for wanting to join a place 80minutes away is the property is huge, 1000 yards, and available steel to shoot at... I am leaning towards actually becoming a member, atleast for a year to see how much I actually would go. |

i ty to go out once a week atleast until i run ou of ammo haha. rel i was sooting a savage in a tan digitial stock kinda in the middle idid sneak down to thepistol bay to try out my new 625 so you may not have seen me. i will be up there tis weekend im sure as i have some new toys to try out |

2 further questions about this place. Do any of you know what the new Monthly Membership rate is? I sent Cole an email, but haven't heard back, and was just curious how it compared to the $400 + $100 current yearly rate.
Also, i remember reading about it, but cant seem to find it now, what is required besides taking the written test to shoot at the Patriot Range? |
