I check the forcast to find we're expecting 3-5" of snow in the next 36 hours?  What the fruitbat - we haven't even had a killing frost yet!  Daylight savings time hasn't hit yet!  We haven't had Halloween yet!

Must be global warming...

Where I come from 3-5" of snow was the morning snowfall. Keep those tires at proper pressure, keep distance between You and the guy in front of you and don't turn away from a slide, turn into it and gently brake ( this assuming most modern vehicles have ABS, no ABS gently tap the brakes ) .  The year before We left Arcade, Ny We had a Halloween 30" snowstorm that made for some interesting trick or treating, seems it gets earlier every year . Can't say I miss clearing the driveway before leaving for work, then again upon returning home 9 hours later just to get into the driveway, then again later to remove the massive pile of ice and debris left by the plows ( which left unshoveled turns into a road iceberg ).  I hate winter, but My Wife's Mother settled in the Panhandle and until She passes We are here ( happy wife , happy life !!! ), but the day after We are heading to The Son's house in Melbourne, Florida to get out of it once and for all ! Good luck this weekend in the blizzard of 2011 all and stay safe !.......WVleo

Snow who cares.....the real worry is  the polar bear migration into WV.  Unlce Gore says they will drift over on Icebergs.

Not a worry at all, we'll just have to open a hunting season on them to keep their numbers in check.

Snow forecast for above 1500', we're a bit below that. Sorry.

* PRECIPITATION TYPE...SNOW IN THE MOUNTAINS. RAIN AND SNOW MIX
IN THE VALLEYS.

* ACCUMULATIONS...POTENTIAL FOR FIVE OR MORE INCHES OF SNOW FOR
ELEVATIONS ABOVE 1500 FEET.

Bit breezy, damp and chilly, and it'll suck as I'll be under a truck working most of the weekend.  Going to be LOADS of fun.

But, that said, bring it! I've got both lots of leave left AND a small snow shoveling device to play with.

NOAA disagrees.  They've put the snow warning on Inwood, not the higher elevations.  Quit trying to be a party pooper!!!!!

Meh, if it actually snowed that much in the EPH every time they called for that, I'd expect over a foot here in the actual mountains of WV.  Hell, my house sets at 2200ft and that is low for around here.  It might cover the grass, that's about all I see happening if that.  Now you get up into the high turf, where I like to hang out, Shavers, Cheat, Middle, mtns they may see a few inches.

Calm down folks, ground is too warm yet to be getting your panties in a bunch

EDIT: I see there is now a winter storm warning for my county!  4-8" yeah right

Really not at all concerned with the snow as much as the snow on the leaves on the trees waying down branches and snapping power lines causing Me to loose My WII golf tournament with the Grandkids ( 5y/o & 6y/o ) this weekend !!!!  Bought the mandatory gross of toilet paper rolls ! And if it gets really bad I bought some Asian Helper and there are plenty of feral cats in the area !  Home cooked Chinese Food on the grill !!!  just like Hop Sing.   ....WVleo

Leaves??  You mean the things that fell off the trees about 3-4 weeks ago?

I'm also expecting a full report of the mass hysteria from NOVA that snow brings.  Hell it's quality entertainment to watch those amateurs deal with snow

NOAA is the one that put that out!!!
F*ckers changed it on me.
No matter....4-8 ain't gonna even require the tractor to start.  Now working on the truck may suffer, tho.  But the oven will be on in the garage baking truck parts, so I'll have a warm place to play.

Wasn't a party pooper when I posted it...but I'll be one now.  Guess that makes you a poopee?
SONOFABIICH....Dave is going ALL out with 6-12 with more in the higher elevations:

Damn, you guys are way behind.  Leaves turned up here the last week of Sep, snowed first week in Oct. took most of the leaves with it.  There are a few dead leaves hanging down here, that is it

All of our trees.are bare here as well.  Radio keeps saying 6-10", but, I seriously doubt we'll get but a couple sloppy inches.

for some reason the thing for Randolph and Pocahontas says 8-12, I figure Snowshoe may see that, not down here at my house.

Dang we've got two pear trees in the front yard whose leaves haven't even started turning color yet.  At least they're young enough the ice won't clobber them.

I picked the last of the tomatoes from the garden today, as tonight's the first hard freeze of the season.  Sigh.  No more until next year...

Meh....I think I'll be able to make it to the outhouse with no problem.
But we are going to start losing limbs if it keeps up. Only about an inch so far.

Not must here, an inch at most, but it's very wet heavy snow and it's really sticking to the tree limbs.  Two brownouts in the last hour, so I wouldn't be surprised if the power goes out for a bit.

And so it starts.... a 3" diameter limb already down.  Lots more ready.

With, I'm sure, more to come. Limbs are really drooping outside.
Meh....more to burn.

About 4" in Berkeley Springs. Stink bugs have holed up in my heavy coat, nice I went out with the dog(why do short hair dogs love the snow?)and could hear trees starting to crack. Also two brown outs so far.

Hi, Been outside three times already brushing of My dwarf Japanese maples as they still also have there leaves, but the neighbors full grown 40' maples are not fairing so well. They are cracking and 1 large branch has drooped onto there roof ( a not well maintained roof I might add ). Roads are fine if you don't mind driving thru slush ( I don't ) but tonight after it re-freezes I would not want to be on the roads. Power ( obviously ) still on but from the looks of the wires a couple neighbors lost power ( lines down from house to pole ) . Another couple hours and that should be it, but atleast it will be gone come Sunday LOL !.....WVleo

3-4" on the ground here in Front Royal.   A 30' long tree limb feel and ripped the power lines off the side of the house taking about a 4' x 8' section of wall out of the gable end of the house in my loft.    Tree limb then embedded itself in the roof of my 28' race trailer.    Patched the wall up with some plywood but have not done much else as the power is still live on the 75' of service cable laying on the trailer, ground and front porch.    Power company gave no estimate on when they will get here.    Neighbors power lines are on the ground as well all the way out and across the road.

There was about 4-6 inches up at the Cove Camground, Gore today.  Made it to where the cutoff for the rifle range was and lots of downed limbs and trees.   Decided to turn down when I heard limbs falling every minute or so.

Smart.  Last year's winter wasn't too bad IIRC so not a whole lot of deadfall came down.  If we get an ice storm this winter things are going to be interesting.

LOL Yeah, it probably is the road you think it is. Not many to choose from in Strasburg. My little tree in the front yard still had its leaves and was nearly on the ground earlier with the heavy snow. I didn't get the neighbors who were shoveling their driveway when they own a truck.

Welp, this snow was a joke.

Got maybe 3" if I'm lucky here at the house this morning, and all has since melted before dark.  Now up above 2500' it stuck to the tree's and the highest mountain peaks I figure have a good bit of snow.

I declare this snow a non-event

still plenty of snow here and a bunch of ice on the road up to my house.  Feel free to come get all you want.  I just got off work and I'm not clearing the driveway, thats what I have 400hp and 4x4 for

11 inches at 2300 feet just east of Front Royal. Lost power for 16 hours or so, lotta limbs down, sundry wrecks down the mountain.

Had abt 6" when it was all said & done over here in She-town, but with the warmed
up weather, there's pretty much nothing left but a few patches in the shaded areas.

Only had the power blink once, but one of Mrs. Tankers friends who is a few miles
towards Harpers Ferry lost hers, and still hasn't had it restored. We had her and
the kids come over today to take a shower and get cleaned up.
