OK - so my love/hate relationship with this place has pretty much all taken place publicly. A few years ago some kid working the counter pointed an MP-5 at me (turned out to be airsoft) when I was on the range and he was in the store. He was backlit, so I couldn't see color, just the shape. I took a few years off, and now I go in there every once in awhile. Well, yesterday, one of the yahoos working the counter was talking about how much money he makes buying guns at estate sales and re-selling them. I am not talking managed estate sales, but more like the widow not having ANY clue what she has and selling 70's vintage Colts for $100. He tells himself (and the rest of the world) that "he gave her the asking price" so it must be OK. I hope he sleeps well at night. At least we have NOVA Armament and Virginia Arms nearby...

If a vintage Colt is worth $100 to the estate, I'll happily pay that. Would you be as worked up if it was a pawn shop owner who had the old Colt for $100? |

I wish the guy luck. If he does indeed have a illegal gun business then it could cost him a lot. It is also possible that he may have just been talking out his butt trying to look good to customers and his co-workers..... who knows. If by "cost him a lot" you mean: felony conviction, then yes indeed. BATFE takes such matters seriously - as they should. Let's hope they catch up with him fast. I am all for keeping open the "gun show loop hole" (as the Brady buch calls it). Private transfers, however ARE NOT "dealing without an FFL" - which is excatly what this BRA employee appears to be doing. People like him give all lawful gun owners a bad name. In other words, he is abusing the "loop hole" that the rest of us use from time to time & benefit from. Screw him; I hope he likes prison. |

While I agree that what he is doing in illegal, I also think that the law itself is unconstitutional. Shall not be infringed also applies to the private sales of firearms. I shoot a BRA, I recall the video where the owner admitted to voting for Obummer, but not contributing funds to the campaign like the owner of Silver Eagle. In my opinion, the owner of BRA can vote for anyone he cares to, that is his right. Where I draw the line is when thousands of dollars are contributed to the campaigns of anti gun criminal politicians(i.e. Silver Eagle in Ashburn) . |

I agree that we have aright to buy and sell privately BUT..... this guy appears to be doing it for profit and not because he wants the gun for his collection or to shoot it and got tired of it. With the except of having a store front, what is the difference between the BRA employee and BRA? I can not see one. They both are buying weapons to sell for profit only BRA has the federally mandated license to do it. |

I know the guys at BRA pretty well. I called and talked to them. Are you sure the person was a current employee? They did say a former employee was in there talking about flipping guns. Do you know which employee it was? What is his name? What did he look like?
I know the owner. |

He also asked if he could help me. He is the guy who is about to take home a KRISS - which he made sure to show to people. Dude has a mouth that you could run a Mack truck through - every time I see him it is running nonstop, usually spewing ridiculous garbage. |

I only drop by here to pick up some SLIP2000 cleaning supplies whenever I'm out at NRA since they're right down 50. I tried their range once and really disliked the guy setting my friends and myself up behind the counter. I guess the only thing I like about BRA is the free donuts they give on weekends.. |

@ shooter220 - I called back and there is more to the story. I just didn't care enough to get all the facts. @ soupy - The ice cream is a nice touch too. I am sure there is - I just didn't want to engage the dude enough to find out either. Far easier to leave. |

long story short. Husband dies, wife doesn't know about guns. Most of the guns would not sell well at BRA (WWII). The guy told her to research the guns, and put them on gunbroker. He told her the 1911's were worth alot more than $100, but if that was all she wanted he would be happy to pay the asking price. He told her where to find more info on the guns and told her who could help sell them at the right price. He did not buy any of them nor did BRA.
Before everyone slams him for not looking up the guns himself, he did not know much about most of them. He did turn her on to people that could help her. Sometimes it is better to turn a person over to someone that can help, rather than wing it and screw it up. Knowing when you are in over your head is a good thing. |

First off , lying about buying guns at estate sales and reselling them is not illegal (I am sure this guy is just full of shit)
Looks like they got a bunch of new kids working there. Secondly one of the owners voted for Obama , he did not donate to him. He had his own personal reason he voted for him I suspect , that I will not pretend to understand. |

He didn't even attempt to show the "I was in over my head" angle - it was purely, "this is how I have gotten great deals on guns." -shooter |
| I don't care how the owner voted. I find their employees unprofessional and their prices ridiculous. Altho I understand that they've updated their ventilation system and are no longer Black Lung Arsenal, they'll never get my business again and I'll always recommend that people avoid that place. Hell with BRA. |
