Why do I never hear anything about this race? Is it close? Does Murray have a chance? I know that this close to the Liberal Utopia that is DC, republicans have a hard time getting elected, but this year anything is possible right? Anyone know what the deal is? I'm going to vote for him anyway, but I'm curious. |
Murphy stands about as good a chance as Murray.
It's tough for any Republican candidate in any race for this district. In driving around town, I am glad to see very few Moran signs (almost none), and a LOT of Murray signs... but I know this isn't a true representation of how things will go on election day. To say Murray's campaign has been lackluster is putting it lightly. Let's be honest, "what campaign?" Aside from the signs that vols have been putting up, I've seen/heard literally nothing. Nothing. I really wish Berry had won in the primaries. He had a bit more energy, and I felt he would've given Moran a bigger fight. Just didn't appeal to the religious right and social conservatives given his lifestyle. (Because that stuff is important at a time when fiscal conservatives are desperately needed)
Nonetheless... still hoping Murray pulls off a miracle. The only people voting for Moran are those that aren't voting for the man... just the party. I don't think Democrats like the douchebag either... but they'll vote for him solely based on what party he represents. I'll be out Tuesday afternoon handing out Rep sample ballots, not as long as I had hoped but work issues didn't allow me to take any leave... I don't expect many takers, but I'll be out there. With my fingers crossed that enough Dem party-line voters stay home, and enough people sick of Moran show up. |

I have seen numerous ads attacking Murray, and I've seen no ads either for Murray or against Moran. Supposedly, there was a lot of money raised for Murray - I wonder what the hell they're doing with it. I'm pretty disheartened. It all went into the one page glossy flyer I got in the mail today. After reading it I am more ambivalent about Murray than I was yesterday. It's like he is trying to pull a McCain. |

Yeah, I'm not feeling great about him. Believe me, I've tried to. As ShortyBP pointed out, the way to get rid of Moran was to elect Berry in the primary. He is a true conservative in (almost) every sense. Unfortunately, the multitude of good that he brought to the race wasn't enough to overcome his being gay. It's a shame. He is a fantastic candidate. |

Moran voters could have been persuaded to stay home I believe. Unfortunately, I think it is too late to change the outcome. But imagine if some PAC or the national committee had bothered to expose Moran for the BIGOT he is? I mean: spread the message: "Don't vote for HATE! Don't vote Moran" His ant-Semitic statements on many occasions were so blatant the even Nancy Pelosi issued a publicized letter of criticism to distance the rest of the part from Moran.
His anti-Semitic statements would have violated many of the "hate speech" laws that liberals have always pushed for & passed. But in Moran's case, they not only failed to prosecute him, but then go on to promote & re-elect the guy! I frankly think "hate speech" laws violate the Constitution, but so long as liberals push such laws, they should, at the very least, be held to the same standards they force on us all. I think it would have been easy to make Moran voters stay away from the polls, or, at the very least, make them vote for this bigot only with extreme discomfort. I expect Tuesday to be a net gain for the USA. But it will also make me very sad to see Moran returned to office. |

I saw a couple Murray volunteers outside the polling place this morning. After I voted I stopped to shake their hands and thank them for giving their time. My polling place was fairly quiet though. Maybe a dozen people total and only two people in line. Maybe we'll can get the upset of the whole election cycle right here in NoVA!!!!!
