Looks like they're one of the few ranges in the area more than 100 yds, and since I'm military they're available to me. My question is, looking at their schedule on their website, how often are the rifle ranges open? My understanding is one RSO to a range, and all their site has is Shotgun ranges scheduled. I'd rather not pay the dues if they're only going to have a rifle range open 1-2 a year when I can make it...

Thanks guys.

They send out emails usually, I think, on Thursdays informing members of the days and times the various ranges will be open for fire.

I don't recall seeing the one for this weekend yet.  Also, I'm not a member but have signed up for the QSC emails cause I was considering joining once upon a time.

Join!

Go to RSO training with a buddy.

Open ranges...one guy shoots while the other guy runs the range.

Shoot until your shoulder aches

I thought the 50 shooter's assoc was having a tourny this weekend on range 4??

Pretty sure they are as Dave (theflash) is driving down from Conn. We are supposed to meet at range 4 @ 12:00hrs Friday for sign-up and sight-in...

Same event?

Service/Match Rifle matches canceled due to USMC training conflict. :(

Don't know what is scheduled there maybe your event is what bumped the service/match rifle matches.

no clue here.. I just spot for flash at sight-in
last time we were supposed to start at 08:00 and didn't get going until around 14:00.. trainees ran late because of rain...

I will be there about noon regardless... if nothing else just to make sure what's up.
hell, it's only 5 mins from my house.. I can hear them shoot from here.

OK.. just got back.. didn't fire a single round.
Someone at range control forgot to notify the FAA 24 hrs. in advance.. so we didn't have the airspace.
Kinda sux, but was so damned windy it would have been a waste of rounds anyway.

07:30 show up
08:00 meeting
08:30 hopefully live fire will begin.

It also looks like they will be short on pit crew... nice part is if a local wants to come out and help the FCSA pays 50 bucks to pull targets.

I have no clue why you cannot shoot any com bloc ammo at this range and if anyone knows please fill me in.

They are trying to determine why 7.62x39 bullets have an uncanny ability to embed themselves in Marines when fired on the range .

And the real reason is?

Isaac walton in stafford (alexandria branch) is one hundred a year more or less, unlimited access, no range officers, but kinda PITA caretaker and wife.  Hours at quantico are hard to keep up on, more of a trapshooting club.

I use the Isaac Walton in Fredricksburg and I can shoot anything but 50 cal. I guess there is no real good reason to join quantico as it seems like a p.i.t.a to shoot at.

$100 initiation fee, $100 yearly dues, ranges are open every other day during hunting season, no guests allowed, immediate family members okay.  Not supposed to rapid fire.  Pistol, shotgun, and rifle ranges are all connected so have call entire line cold when marking/changing targets on any of the firing positions.  Must shoot from behind the firing points.  Rifle range is 100 yards.  Filed gets muddy as all hell.  But it is a place to shoot.  MMHO and YMMV.

He told you the real reason.  A few years ago someone ricocheted a round off range 1 during rec fire and hit a Marine on range 2.  Heard a rumor that there was a second incident with com bloc ammo within a year or so after the first, but don't know whether that actually happened or not...
