I am doing some research on hunting regulations in states adjacent to PA. We are not allowed to use semi auto rifles here for any hunting purpose. What are the regs regarding semi autos in WV? I looked in the WV online hunting regulations and it appears that one can use a semi auto and I did not see any capacity resrictions but I just want to confirm. What about using a semi auto for small game or groundhogs? Is this legal in WV? Thanks for the info.

I hunt with my M4 with a 30rd mag. As long as it's not a select fire weapon, you are good to go.

yes, no mag restrictions that I know of.  I had a uncle, that swore you couldn't have more than 5rnd mags, argued me to a cussing match, told him to call the DNR, he did, and was told there are no restrictions, but to use common sense, on how many rounds you use  boy, he felt like a ass

Oh, semi's for small game, like squirrels, hell why not, of course.  No restrictions on small game either I don't think.

Was deer hunting a few years ago on opening day and heard someone unload a 30 rounder or there abouts.

Semi auto's are OK with no mag restrictions. Small or big game, hell we even get to use a rifle for turkey hunting.

When you come to WV, it's run what you brung, and if it's a 30-06 for squirrels, the more fun!!

only real regs, are the caliber requirements for deer and such....

I had a friend who shot a turkey with a 3006 using a 180 grain hollow point.  Not much left to clean but he was proud of it.

Yep, you can pretty much hunt with anything in WV, even pistol within reason.  I used to use 44 mag and 454 Casull Ruger SRH revolvers plus my TCs a lot to pistol hunt with since the longest shots where I hunted were 75 yards max.   I have been carrying my 50 Beowulf semi auto for hunting the same woods now, just haven't had any luck and there hasn't been any doe season where I hunt for a while.

I have head shot squirrels and killed some groundhogs with a 338 WinMag, 375 H&H, and 45/70 with my TC Encore.  They just made a hole the same size on entry/exit.  My primary groundhog guns back then were a 22-250 and 220 Swift, and they just explode the groundhogs into pieces with the right bullets.  I have a 204 Ruger AR upper that I want to try on groundhogs next

Federal restrictions on shotgun capacity for waterfowl are the only restrictions that apply, AFAIK.
