Does anyone know how insurance works in regards to having a firearm stolen, replaced by insurance, then having the original firearm returned by the police? Do you then have to fork out money to pay back the insurance company? |

Do you then have to fork out money to pay back the insurance company? If they paid you off it is now theirs. They are very unlikely to want it unless it is a very high value collectible. |

It is also doubtful that the insurance company would ever know your firearms had been recovered either. Given your familiarity with the relevant parts of the state statute regarding concealed carry and tresspass, I am surprised to see you giving tacit approval to insurance fraud. shooter |

Contact them and see if they would allow you to buy it back, they may have already written it off and the residual value may not be much. Plus they aren't an FFL so sending it back ought to be interesting...

so you sleep at night––preferably in your bed, I would contact them if recovered and go on what they want done with it. |

It's just like any other property. Insurance companies take a very dim view on people not telling them their goodies have been recovered.
Very good question for your insurance company. Tomorrow morning, call the 1-800 number on the back of your policy card, find the "general information" selection, and once you actually get a real, live person to talk to, ask them in theoretical terms. Post what they say here, with name of company if you'd like. |
